About the role:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior R&D Manager supporting EP Ablation Catheter projects within BSC’s Cardiology division. As an Engineering Manager in R&D, you will be a key member of the EP New Product Development team. This role will utilize a variety of new and proven technologies to deliver next-generation concepts for life-changing medical devices to patients and clinicians in support of BSC’s mission. 

Specifically, this role will support the development of our next generation EP Ablation Catheters. These investments in new technology and the team who develops them will drive a robust pipeline of solutions that will keep BSC in a market leadership position. You will have the opportunity to significantly impact the development of truly life changing patient therapies for the relief of debilitating diseases. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead teams to achieve organizational and functional goals.  Guide, coach, direct, and develop direct reports, and if applicable, drive those practices throughout their organization. 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to support the development team, project planning, and the decision-making process. 

  • Provide significant guidance and approval regarding technical strategies and approaches. 

  • Support a high-performing team culture and entrepreneurial environment where people are highly engaged, skilled, and collaborative. 

  • Provide guidance and training to staff, assist direct reports in scoping and attaining career goals, motivate individuals to achieve results, and recruit and maintain a high-quality staff. 

  • Effectively communicate with different levels of management, as well as business and technical employees. 

  • Demonstrate effective change leadership. 

  • Demonstrate ability to succeed in fast paced environment while managing multiple projects simultaneously. 

  • Deep dive technically where needed while keeping a broad perspective. 

  • Foster a diverse workplace that enables all participants to contribute to their full potential in pursuit of organizational objectives. 

  • Keep the organization's vision and values at the forefront of decision making and action. 

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures. 

 

Required qualifications:

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering  

  • Successful history of launching and maintaining products within the medical device industry 

  • Experience through the stages of medical device product development 

  • Demonstrate a keen interest in EP, workflows, clinical features, and user experience. 

  • Strong cross-functional collaboration, influence without authority, and project/task management skills. 

  • Passion for understanding and solving problems for end users.  

  • Ability to provide technical leadership as it relates to product and process design 

  • Ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations based on technical inputs from multiple and varied sources. 

  • Excellent organizational, communication and collaboration skills. 

  • 5+ years’ experience managing technical teams in the development of medical devices. 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Class II or Class III Medical Device product development experience with experience in functional project planning.

Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

 

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
