Senior Service Development Engineer

About the Role:

At Boston Scientific, the Senior Service Development Engineer provides technical service leadership and support for capital equipment products and the associated service infrastructure. This role partners with Product Development Team, Service Quality, Manufacturing, Marketing, and other internal and external stakeholders to ensure products are designed for supportability, serviceability, reliability, and effective lifecycle management. As a service subject matter expert and core team representative, this position defines service requirements, develops scalable global service programs, supports product changes throughout the lifecycle, and leads the establishment of service infrastructure for new and updated capital equipment. The role also develops and implements end-of-life service strategies and provides project management leadership for service-related initiatives. This is a dynamic, highly collaborative role that requires strong initiative, adaptability, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will balance multiple concurrent projects, planned deliverables, and emerging technical and service needs while maintaining momentum, quality, and alignment across cross-functional teams.

Work model, sponsorship, relocation:

At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This is an on site role requiring employees to work at our Arden Hills, Minnesota, location five days per week. Your Responsibilities Include:

  • Champion the Boston Scientific Quality Policy by building quality into all aspects of work and maintaining compliance with applicable quality and training requirements.
  • Serve as the Service engineering representative on project core teams for assigned products and programs.
  • Partner with design engineers and cross-functional teams to identify, investigate, and implement solutions to product and service issues.
  • Define and provide product service requirements and serviceability inputs to the product design and development process.
  • Drive design-for-service principles to enable effective field and depot serviceability, maintainability, and repairability.
  • Develop, document, and implement service plans, service requirements, and supporting processes for new and existing products.
  • Lead the escalation, investigation, and resolution of highly complex or unique field service issues.
  • Own and drive product NCEP activities for assigned products, ensuring timely investigation, cross-functional alignment, documentation, and closure; support Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) activities by providing  service and product expertise, contributing to root cause analysis, and supporting implementation and effectiveness of corrective actions.
  • Assess and support product changes throughout the product lifecycle to ensure continued service readiness and supportability.
  • Monitor and analyze product reliability and service performance metrics, identify trends and emerging risks, and present actionable insights and recommendations to leadership to support product quality, reliability, and       lifecycle decisions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop service training requirements, training materials, and delivery plans; field service documentation; in-house and field service tools; technical support requirements, tools, and training; call center processes and information systems; and processes and designs that enable the proposed service model.
  • Develop and implement end-of-life service strategies and programs for capital equipment.
  • Provide project management leadership to establish and implement service support infrastructure for new and updated capital equipment offerings.
  • Effectively manage multiple concurrent projects, technical priorities, and emerging service needs while collaborating across functions to navigate changing priorities, resolve obstacles, and deliver against quality, timeline, and business objectives.

What We're Looking For:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience with a bachelor's degree, or 3+ years of relevant experience working in a regulated industry with a master's degree.
  • Technical service experience supporting capital equipment, or experience in capital equipment engineering and/or R&D.
  • Project management experience, including the ability to coordinate cross-functional activities and deliver against project requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience successfully driving process improvements and implementing effective solutions.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally approximately 10-20% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Field engineering or field service experience
  • Formal training or certification in Six Sigma, Lean, and/or Project Management
  • Technical service experience supporting capital equipment in the medical device industry

The anticipated compensation listed above and the value of core and optional employee benefits offered by Boston Scientific (BSC) – see www.bscbenefitsconnect.com—will vary based on actual location of the position and other pertinent factors considered in determining actual compensation for the role. Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

 

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
