As part of the Connectors and Cable Assemblies (C&CA) category team, the Sr. Supplier Engineer works independently and partners with cross-functional groups to execute material controls and deliverables to meet business needs. This role serves as a technical project lead to resolve complex and critical supplier-related issues, while improving supplier performance, mitigating risks for supplied materials and driving strategies to support supply chain objectives.

 

At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows a hybrid work model requiring employees to be in our local office at least three days per week. Responsibilities will include: 

  • Partnering with global suppliers as the technical expert to understand manufacturing processes and maintain consistent product quality and reliability throughout the product lifecycle
  • Serving as a technical lead in Global Sourcing category teams to establish and execute category objectives
  • Assessing new and existing technologies to support future product development and improve the quality and reliability of current products
  • Partnering with suppliers and category team members to investigate supplied material issues and supply constraints
  • Collaborating with R&D, manufacturing and process development teams on electrical and mechanical design requirements for new product development
  • Partnering with cross-functional teams to execute changes initiated by BSC or suppliers, such as improvement projects, supplier capability, capacity projects, and compliance projects
  • Coordinating all phases of supplier engineering work content for projects; communicate emerging issues and action plans with site leadership and stakeholders to gain resources and support 
  • Identifying and executing material cost reduction projects to meet plant, division, and category goals, while influencing cross-functional support in driving value improvement projects
  • Maintaining compliance with the Quality Policy and all other documented quality processes and procedures to ensure patient safety and product quality

 

Required qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline  
  • Minimum 5 years of technical experience supporting complex mechanical or electrical systems
  • Ability to travel up 20% globally

 

Preferred qualifications: 

  • Experience working in medical device or a similar GMP environment
  • Experience working with suppliers and cross-functional teams to drive project deliverables
  • Working knowledge of statistical methods, six sigma methodologies, and problem-solving methodologies
  • Effective problem-solving and critical thinking analytical skills; results-driven
  • Excellent communication and project management skills
  • Organized and detail-oriented; ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
  • Self-driven and self-motivated to learn and apply knowledge to produce results
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to develop internal and external relationships

Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
