Location: This role must be based out of a North America office location. This role follows a hybrid work mode which requires being onsite 3 days per week.
About the role:
The Sr. Supplier Quality Engineering Director leads an organization of SQE Managers & Engineers to ensure full compliance to all Global Medical Device regulations for direct materials.
This is a significant leadership role that provides strategic vision, direction and leadership in assuring and improving product quality, service, and cost across Boston Scientific for the North America supply chain and multiple Global Sourcing Categories.
This leader will be responsible for a highly motivated Supplier Quality Engineering organization and the rigorous application of BSC Supplier Controls, Material Controls and Proactive Programs at suppliers to achieve outcomes that meet all of BSC’s rigorous quality, compliance, and materials expectations.
This leader is a member of the Global Sourcing extended leadership team and will be responsible for sponsorship and leadership of cross functional programs that advance BSC’s Global Sourcing strategy.
This leader will work with other regional Supplier Quality, Direct Materials leaders to shape organizational strategy for direct materials supplier quality - site and category support to deliver value for BSC.
Lastly, this leader will work closely with other regional Supplier Engineering, Sourcing, and Site and Divisional leadership to align priorities, build strategies and advance the business’s objectives.
This role reports into the Vice President, Global Supplier Quality.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assure that patient safety is prioritized and quality records meet rigorous compliance requirements.
- Be a functional expert in Quality Systems & Compliance and Supplier Quality
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Suppliers of Direct Materials
- Lead region and assure that BSC’s Supplier Quality Management Program is effectively deployed and delivering the highest quality direct materials to BSC manufacturing locations.
- Build & maintain strong relationships with Manufacturing Locations, Supply Chain, Divisions and Corporate Quality teams.
- Build & maintain strong partnerships with the Global Sourcing and Supplier Engineering teams.
- Provide supplier quality leadership and direction to team/organization and ensures the Quality Management System meets the various requirements of material controls regulatory requirements.
- Be recognized as an excellent communicator and collaborator across the organization driving proactive programs to deliver sustained value.
- Demonstrated commitment to developing people and performance in a diverse workplace that enables all participants to contribute to their full potential in pursuit of organizational objectives.

Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or related technical discipline
- Minimum of 10 years of related work experience in the Medical Device industry
- Demonstrated expertise across Manufacturing, Supplier, Design and/or Quality Systems roles
- Minimum of 10 years people management experience
- Demonstrated presentation and facilitation skills
- Financial acumen, budget planning & management
- Commitment to organizational effectiveness and team & individual development
- Experience managing high impact product performance: field issues, complaints, and field actions
- Up to 20% Domestic and International Travel
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in managing global teams
- Demonstrated skills utilizing technology to drive innovation
- Medical device manufacturing experience preferred
- High sense of urgency and commitment to execution
- Strong communication and collaborative leadership skills
