Software R&D Manager II

 

About the role:

  • A Software R&D Manager II is a team leader and project leader of platform and technology development programs. 
  • This position leads a global senior staff of software and embedded firmware engineers.
  • The team creates solutions for a wide variety of sophisticated electronic medical equipment from lasers, vision system, to RF ablation and communication equipment.

 

Your responsibilities include:

  • Manages a large global staff of EME Firmware and Software engineers
  • FW/SW Manager for Cardiac Rhythm Management External Medical Electronics, responsible for the full lifecycle of products
  • Interfaces with Supplier Management on a variety of contract manufacturing engagements for new production introduction, sustaining, and end of life products
  • Interfaces with many cross-functional departments on all project activities
  • Establishes and monitors project budgets
  • Project/Program Management: Manages key initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and closing processes; develops and implements project plan; builds team ownership and commitment to project plan; mentors and/or coaches other functional and project managers.
  • Process Management: Implements exploratory and product development projects; leads team to complete activities to current policies and practices; keeps documentation organized, creates Scaling Plan and Design History File for the project. Identifies process improvements affecting multiple projects.
  • Communications and Reviews: Responsible for team and cross-functional communications; liaison between the team and the senior leadership; leads phase and business reviews, project meeting minutes, issues log, metrics, and other key communications.  Communicates and influences resolution of cross-functional issues.
  • Continuously improves the practices and procedures for team

 

Management Requirements

  • Ability to lead a team of employees in the achievement of organizational goals.  Guide, coach, direct, and develop direct reports.
  • Foster a diverse workplace that enables all participants to contribute to their full potential in pursuit of organizational objectives.
  • Direct and control the activities and budget of one or more functional areas, divisions, product groups, projects/programs and/or operations.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures

 

What we’re looking for:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree plus 7-10 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Master’s degree plus 5-8 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS Degree, Software or Electrical Engineering
  • Knowledge of DHF, DMR and Engineering Change process
