Sr. Cisco Network Engineer

 

The Sr. Cisco Network Engineer will be the main Cisco Network Engineer onsite in our Arden Hills location and will be responsible for the network infrastructure to ensure the highest level of performance and availability in a critical 24X7 environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain, troubleshoot and support BSC's network real-estate composed of Cisco 5500 series WLAN Controllers, 2702i wireless access points, 3750 and 2960 access switches, Nexus 5k, 7k and 9k platforms in the Data Center, as well as various switches/routers used for WAN and Internet Connectivity.
  • Participates in the planning, development, implementation and operational support of company-wide electronic network systems.
  • Installs and upgrades data hardware and software by following systems management procedures to accommodate growth.
  • Designs and plans data systems and provides specifications including detailed schematics for data architecture.
  • Monitors systems by using management tools (e.g. sniffer/protocol analyzer) to ensure achievement of service levels including availability, reliability, and capacity utilization.
  • Coordinates and leads projects by following project management procedures covering project scheduling, resourcing, training, communications, and change control.
  • Analyzes system problems by identifying root-cause, evaluating costs and benefits of using alternate procedures, and initiates solutions to eliminate or reduce problems and improve services.
  • Formulates data network services by examining current trends and by developing secure, cost-effective implementation plans, strategies, and schedules for the introduction of new or improved services.
  • Researches new technologies and their potential match to business solutions by reviewing product information, managing product demonstrations, service and cost benchmarking and proposing appropriate recommendations for implementation.
  • Maintains technical expertise in all areas of data networking including hardware/software interconnections and interfaces, such as routers, switches, load balancers, wan accelerators, wireless LAN, etc.
  • Network capacity planning and trouble monitoring.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Five years of Cisco network support at the senior engineer level required
  • Cisco CCNP Required

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Riverbed WAN Optimization and Netprofiler experience preferred, but not required.
  • Cisco CCIE preferred, but not required.
  • F5 LTM experience a plus
