About the role:  
The Supplier Engineer II will focus on new product development (NPD) and sustaining projects for the Capital Sourced Finished Medical Device (SFMD) category team. This includes managing both contract manufacturer (CM) and SFMD suppliers for capital equipment across all divisions. The daily work involves being part of the NPD and sustaining core team, execute deliverables to onboard capital equipment into the portfolio, develop and validate manufacturing processes, equipment, and systems to meet manufacturing delivery goals while ensuring product quality and delivery, and supporting sustaining projects through change management.   

 

Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Works with contract manufacturers and suppliers around the globe to understand assembly and finished good manufacturing processes and acts as a technical expert to ensure repeatable and reproducible quality/reliability during the life of the product.
  • Participates in project teams working with cross functional team members to qualify and improve supplier processes.  Plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed phases of engineering work.
  • Investigates and evaluates new and existing technologies for use in future products or improve quality/reliability of current product.
  • Interfaces with suppliers and commodity team members to support investigation of supplied material issues or supply constraints.
  • Drives troubleshooting processes on-site at supplier facility.
  • Designs/documents complex experiments/protocols (e.g., DOE) to align with project goals, both internal and external.
  • Serves as a liaison between function and core team; compiles experimental results and communicates them to core team; communicates resulting impact of the data to project team.
  • Identifies what resources are required to meet project milestones; makes recommendations to team leader.
  • In all actions, demonstrates a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance to the Quality Policy and all other documented quality processes and procedures.
     

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (EE, ME, BME, etc.)
  • 2+ years of experience in medical devices supporting complex electrotechnical systems
  • Excellent communication, project management skills, and documentation practices are a must
  • Strong bias for action and results orientation is critical
  • Individual must be self-driven and self-motivated to learn and use that knowledge to produce results
  • Good understanding of statistical methods, six sigma methodologies, and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Ability to travel 25% of the time (including internationally). Travel typically does not occur over weekends.

 
Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Previous experience in working with suppliers and contract manufacturers is preferred.
  • Previous experience working in the medical device industry
