About this role:
The Supplier Quality Manager for Global Direct Packaging Materials provides strategic leadership to ensure world‑class quality, reliability, and compliance across the company’s global packaging material supply base. This role defines and drives the supplier quality strategy for direct packaging categories and serves as the central point of expertise for proactive supplier management, risk mitigation, and material/supplier quality performance.
In addition to global supplier responsibilities, this role provides operational support to manufacturing plants and distribution centers worldwide, helping resolve packaging‑related quality issues and driving continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen product flow, robustness, and operational reliability.
The Manager is also directly responsible for leading, developing, and coaching a team of Supplier Quality Engineers (SQEs), ensuring consistent execution of supplier quality processes, fostering technical capability growth, and aligning the team's activities with global sourcing and quality priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Global Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and implement the global supplier quality strategy for direct packaging materials.
- Lead, coach, and develop a global team of Supplier Quality Engineers, ensuring consistent capability, performance, and developmental growth.
- Serve as the packaging supplier quality SME for global sourcing, operations, R&D, and leadership teams.
2. Operational Support for Manufacturing & Distribution Centers
- Provide hands on quality support to global manufacturing and distribution centers in resolving packaging-related issues.
- Lead or support root cause investigations and corrective actions for material defects or yield losses.
- Collaborate with incoming inspection, operations, and logistics to improve packaging robustness and process capability.
- Support continuous improvement projects focused on inspection reduction, material qualification, scrap reduction, shipping performance, and packaging optimization.
3. Supplier Performance Management
- Monitor supplier performance using scorecards, SCAR trends, audits, and key quality metrics.
- Lead business reviews with suppliers and implement get well or capability building plans when required.
- Drive continuous improvement programs that reduce cost of poor quality and enhance supply resilience.
4. Proactive Supplier Quality Assurance
- Drive supplier onboarding, qualification, and audit processes for packaging materials.
- Lead proactive supplier risk reduction programs, maturity assessments, segmentation, and preventive quality initiatives.
- Partner early with suppliers during new product development to ensure packaging manufacturability and compliance.
5. Compliance, Documentation & Quality Systems
- Ensure supplier compliance with corporate and global regulatory requirements (ISO 13485, ISO 9001, EU MDR, FDA QSR).
- Maintain robust quality systems documentation for audits, supplier qualifications, SCARs, and risk management activities.
- Support internal and external audits with supplier related evidence, CAPA follow ups, and remediation actions.
- Promote best practice quality system behaviors across the supply base.
What we're looking for in you:
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Packaging, Mechanical, Materials Science, Biomedical or other Engineering related fields.
- 7+ years of related work experience in quality engineering.
- 2+ years of experience leading or mentoring engineers or technical teams.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional leadership skills.
- Demonstrated experience developing and executing strategic plans or strategic objectives.
Preferred qualifications::
- Technical knowledge of packaging materials, printing, labeling, sterile barrier systems, and related manufacturing processes
- Experience in medical devices, pharmaceutical, or highly regulated industries.
- Certifications such as ISO 13485/9001Certified Lead Auditor, Certified Manager of Quality / Organizational Excellence, CQE, CSQP, etc.
- Skilled in quality tools: 8D, DMAIC, root cause analysis, SPC.

Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
