About the role:
As a Systems Engineer II, you will help build out, maintain, and troubleshoot our expanding infrastructure utilizing a very diverse array of technology. 
Responsible for designing, defining, and implementing system requirements for systems and/or preparing studies and analyzing existing systems and services.

 

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designs, defines, implements system requirements, system specifications, input/output processes and working parameters by using current systems engineering methods and technologies.
  • Documents system requirements by writing documents, reports, memos, change requests. Methods used are determined by approved procedures and standards.
  • Continuously improves process and work methodologies by interfacing with peers/cross-functional groups and analyzing activities to improve workflow and work processes.
  • Maintain and monitor all server systems and infrastructure 
  • Perform server setup and rebuild, including operating system installation, patching and repair on both on-premises and cloud-based computing resources 
  • Participate in complex projects and complete tasks in a timely manner 
  • Hardware maintenance and troubleshooting, such as replacing and installing memory, drives, or accessories 
  • Install, set up, and maintain key infrastructure components including Active Directory, Distributed File System, back-office applications, authentication, and messaging 
  • Perform corrective action for system-generated alerts and notifications 
  • Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies 
  • Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks 
  • Document troubleshooting procedures, daily tasks, and issue resolution 
  • Work non-standard hours as necessary to properly support critical application environment

 

 

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field of study
  • Minimum of 5 years of related work experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with cloud infrastructure (Microsoft Azure or AWS)
  • Experience of virtualization technologies (VMWare, Hyper-V), StorSimple, Nutanix
  • Administration experience with VMware ESXi 5.0 and greater 
  • Administration experience 
    • Operation Systems including Windows Servers (2012, 2016, 2019) and Windows 10
    • Microsoft Office 365 
    • Microsoft Azure 
    • Microsoft Active Directory 
  • A well-developed ability to troubleshoot and diagnose complex system issues 
  • Understanding and experience with web applications running on Windows Server operating systems 
  • Strong knowledge of network connectivity and communication protocols including IP, TCP, UDP, DHCP, DNS, HTTP(S), FTP(S) 
  • Possess a client-oriented work ethic 
  • Must be able to provide support for production systems, respond to emergencies in a timely manner, and provide management with status as appropriate 

 

 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Linux Operating System
  • VMware certification
  • SCCM experience including patch management and imaging
  • Experience with data storage systems
  • Strong and effective analytical and communication skills
  • Technical skills (systems analysis, implementation, troubleshooting).
  • SQL Server experience is a plus
  • Comfortable in an audited and change controlled environment
  • Proficient in MS Office suite
  • Experience developing Microsoft PowerShell scripts 
  • Self-motivated, demonstrated ability to drive multiple initiatives forward simultaneously
  • Ability to work both individually and in a team environment
  • Ability to handle concurrent projects
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires proactively defining and managing various tasks and priorities concurrently
