Position Summary
The Vice President, AF Solutions (AFS) Imaging is a senior strategic leader responsible for defining and driving the company's global ultrasound imaging strategy and owning the enterprise imaging R&D agenda. This role shapes the long-term innovation roadmap, sets R&D development priorities, oversees execution against strategic objectives, and ensures cohesive alignment across, and with, cross functional partners including Clinical, Regulatory, Quality, and Commercial organizations.
The VP exercises direct operational oversight of the R&D, PMO, and Marketing organizations dedicated to Imaging and provides executive ownership and oversight of imaging strategy, prioritization, and governance to ensure disciplined execution and strategic alignment. Across other functions, the VP leads through influence, partnering with stakeholders, matrixed teams, and cross-functional collaborators to advance enterprise imaging priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Vision
- Develop and articulate the enterprise-wide ultrasound imaging strategy, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives, long-term portfolio plans, and imaging R&D priorities.
- Own the imaging R&D roadmap and oversee prioritization of platform architecture, modality innovations, and next-generation imaging capabilities in partnership with functional R&D and Technology leadership teams.
- Monitor the competitive landscape, emerging imaging technologies, and clinical trends to guide investment decisions and sustain leadership.
- Ensure enterprise imaging strategy advances consistency, scalability, and differentiation across product lines.
Cross‑Functional Influence & Collaboration
- Lead through matrixed relationships and R&D governance mechanisms to drive execution of imaging roadmaps across engineering, clinical science, commercial development, and downstream commercial teams.
- Serve as the central strategic convener for all ultrasound‑related initiatives.
- Build strong relationships across functions to balance innovation, risk, cost, and time to market.
- Provide strategic connection and alignment across product management, clinical, R&D, and marketing teams to ensure imaging strategy and R&D priorities are embedded across the portfolio.
Clinical & Market Insight Leadership
- Own the Upstream Marketing function for AF Solutions Imaging, defining market strategy, segmentation, and portfolio priorities aligned to enterprise objectives.
- Synthesize customer insights, clinical needs, and market intelligence into clear product requirements, innovation roadmaps, and long-term value creation opportunities.
- Engage KOLs, clinical partners, and advisory boards to shape future imaging strategy and validate unmet needs and emerging concepts.
- Anticipate and interpret clinical, competitive, and market trends to inform strategic investment decisions and areas of differentiation.
- Partner closely with the VP, Global Marketing to enable seamless transition from upstream strategy to downstream execution, with Downstream Marketing remaining under that role’s ownership within the division.
Governance, Alignment & Decision Support
- Own imaging governance through technical councils and cross-functional decision forums, including oversight of R&D priorities, development milestones, and escalation of key trade-offs.
- Provide executive-level recommendations on strategic priorities, resource allocations, R&D investments, and technology trade-offs.
- Influence program architecture to ensure alignment with regulatory, quality, and compliance expectations.
- Ensure imaging initiatives and R&D activities adhere to enterprise standards, design controls, and quality frameworks.
Thought Leadership & External Representation
- Represent the company at scientific conferences, industry forums, and strategic collaboration venues related to ultrasound imaging.
- Foster innovation through collaboration with academic institutions, clinical partners, and external research organizations.
- Serve as a technical thought leader, shaping the external perception of the company’s imaging strategy and capabilities.
People Leadership
- Cultivate a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and innovation within and across teams.
- Influence without authority across a broad network of engineers, clinicians, and business leaders.
- Guide R&D leaders and cross-functional teams advancing imaging strategy, technology exploration, product development, and clinical evidence development.
- Mentor and develop talent across the enterprise.
Qaulifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, marketing, life sciences, or a related discipline; advanced degree, including an MBA, Ph.D., or equivalent, preferred and minimum of 15 years’ experience in the medical device, MedTech, or related health care technology industry, including executive leadership responsibility.
- Demonstrated expertise defining and driving an enterprise strategy and product technology roadmap from concept through execution.
- Proven leadership of cross-functional product development in a regulated environment.
- Deep experience partnering with commercial organizations to define go-to-market strategy and scale sales, clinical support, service, and training capabilities for highly technical products.
- Proven ability to lead through influence and manage complex global stakeholder environments.
- Exceptional communication and strategic thinking skills, including the ability to synthesize complex clinical, technical, commercial, and financial inputs into clear recommendations and action plans.
- Demonstrated success developing talent, building high-performing teams, and fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.

Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.
Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
