Field Clinical Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Field Clinical Engineer (FCE) will manage the daily execution of Boston Scientific's clinical trials at designated centers while addressing commercial needs. This includes promoting company products through education of current and potential customers, and providing coverage for implants and patient clinics within a defined region. 
The FCE will support the clinical trial process through clinical consultation, teaching, and technical support, ensuring the effective application of the product range. Additionally, the role involves strategic collaboration with clinical trial teams to drive clinical trial subject enrolment, while adhering to clinical protocols, global regulatory standards, and company objectives.


WHAT WILL YOU BE RESPONSIBLE FOR?

Technical Expertise and Support:
•    Provides technical support for clinical trial and commercial procedures including implants and follow up visits.  This includes direct patient contact in the hospital or clinic setting.
•    Provide detailed technical information and advice to healthcare professionals on relevant products.
•    Troubleshoot and resolve issues with devices in the field, including advanced programming to enhance patient therapy.

Training and Knowledge Maintenance:
•    Maintain up-to-date knowledge of products and regulatory compliance.
•    Train new team members and improve processes for increased efficiency.
•    Provide guidance on good clinical research practices and collaborate with international clinical and R&D teams to align on research directions.

Clinical Trial Management:
•    Oversee clinical trial activities within the assigned territory, including Interest Visits and Site Initiation Visits.
•    Educate clinical investigators on trial protocols, processes, and investigational products.
•    Manage clinical trial-related training, education, and technical support, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols and global regulatory standards.
•    Liaise with the Technical Support Team to align with international recommendations and adhere to product complaint reporting guidelines.
•    Regular communication with Clinical Trial Team on progress of assigned clinical site.

Customer and Investigator Engagement:
•    Meet with existing and potential customers and clinical investigators to identify clinical needs and research interests.
•    Provide case coverage for patient device implant procedures in the operating room and support follow-up visits.

Inventory and Compliance:
•    Follow company and divisional guidelines for managing commercial and investigational product inventories throughout the clinical process.
•    Demonstrate a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by adhering to the Quality Policy, Code of Conduct, and all documented quality processes and procedures.

Availability and Travel:
•    Travel as needed to cover clinical trial and commercial implant cases, including being on call 24/7 for case coverage

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
•    Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Biomedical engineering, related technical degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
•    4+ year of experience in end user support
•    Strong technical background and experience implementing and driving adoption of core technology services.
•    Experience in clinical research projects is an advantage
•    Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to clearly communicate with management, business leaders and senior leadership in both written and oral communication.
