As Chief Accountant, Romania, you will be responsible for managing accounting operations and providing guidance and insights across all divisions for Boston Scientific’s Romanian legal entity. In this role, you will oversee financial reporting, close processes, statutory and tax compliance, internal controls and audit activities, while partnering closely with regional finance, FP&A, Global Business Services, operations and HR teams to support financial accuracy and business decision-making.

Your responsibilities will include:
• Managing day-to-day accounting operations for Boston Scientific Romania, ensuring completeness, accuracy and timeliness of financial records.
• Overseeing the full monthly, quarterly and annual close process in line with corporate timelines and reporting requirements.
• Monitoring and supervising daily accounting activities, including month-end close, accounts payable processes, general ledger account reconciliations and fixed asset activities.
• Monitoring and analyzing accounting data to produce accurate financial reports and statements.
• Monitoring cash transactions with local banks, treasury-related activities and working capital positions in coordination with relevant teams.
• Ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP, Romanian statutory requirements and Boston Scientific policies and procedures.
• Managing intercompany relationships and flows between Romania and international entities.
• Ensuring compliance with local statutory, tax, VAT and regulatory requirements in Romania in partnership with external accounting firms.
• Maintaining strong internal controls and supporting compliance with company policies, procedures and corporate governance requirements.
• Leading internal and external audit processes.
• Supporting finance projects, process enhancements and ERP or system improvements and implementations.
• Partnering with FP&A, the Global Business Services shared service accounting team, operations, HR and regional finance teams to support business operations and financial accuracy.
• Supporting team members and contributing to a collaborative, high-performance finance culture.
Qualifications:
Required qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years’ progressive accounting experience, including experience preparing annual financial statements and managing external audits.
• Strong knowledge of Romanian GAAP, local tax legislation, VAT, payroll and statutory reporting requirements.
• Experience managing month-end close activities, general ledger reconciliations, accounts payable processes and fixed asset accounting.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel.
• Full business proficiency in English, written and spoken.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to partner effectively across functions, levels and geographies.
• Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with peers, management, direct reports and cross-functional teams.
• Genuine interest in developing others and contributing to a strong team culture.
Preferred qualifications:
• Professional accounting qualification such as CECCAR, CPA, ACCA, CMA or equivalent.
• Degree program or coursework completed in English.
• U.S. GAAP experience.
• Experience working in a multinational company.
• Experience partnering with shared service centers and regional finance teams.
• SAP S/4HANA experience.
