The Financial Controller – SEER is a senior finance leadership role within the Growth Emerging Markets (GEM) organization, responsible for driving financial performance, ensuring a robust control environment, and supporting strategic decision-making across the Southeast Europe and Romania region.
Reporting to the Senior Finance Director, GEM, this role is part of the regional leadership framework and partners closely with commercial and functional leaders to enable sustainable growth. As an Financial Controller, you will lead finance activities across the region, drive transformation initiatives, and build strong finance capabilities within a complex, matrixed international environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
Finance and accounting
- Lead and oversee the month-end close process, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant financial reporting across SEER entities
- Drive financial performance analysis, providing clear insights and recommendations to improve profitability and cost efficiency
- Ensure full compliance with local statutory requirements, corporate policies, and US GAAP/IFRS standards
- Own and strengthen the internal control environment, including SOX compliance and balance sheet integrity
- Oversee statutory reporting and audits, managing relationships with external auditors and ensuring timely completion
- Coordinate tax activities in partnership with Corporate Tax and external advisors
- Drive the implementation and optimization of finance systems and tools (e.g., SAP S/4HANA)
- Lead process improvements, automation, and standardization initiatives across the region
- Ensure adherence to all compliance, quality, and governance requirements within the finance function
Business partnering
- Act as a strategic finance partner to regional commercial leadership, influencing key business decisions
- Translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for senior stakeholders
- Support the development and execution of regional growth strategies, including portfolio optimization and go-to-market models
- Proactively identify risks and opportunities, driving forward-looking financial planning and decision support
- Collaborate across functions and regions to support EMEA and GEM-wide initiatives
- Play a key role in shaping a high-performance, value-driven finance organization
Leadership and people management
- Lead, develop, and inspire a regional finance team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
- Build strong finance capabilities and ensure effective resource planning and talent development
- Act as a role model for Boston Scientific values, promoting integrity, collaboration, and performance excellence
- Drive engagement and alignment within a matrix organization, influencing stakeholders at all levels
What we are looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; professional qualification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CIMA) is a plus
- Minimum of 8–10 years' experience in finance, with progressive responsibility in controlling or finance leadership roles
- Strong expertise in financial accounting (IFRS/US GAAP), reporting, and internal controls (SOX)
- Proven experience in a multinational, matrix organization, ideally within a US-based company
- Demonstrated ability to partner with senior commercial leaders and influence strategic decisions
- Experience leading regional or international projects and finance transformation initiatives
- Fluency in English; additional SEER languages are an advantage
