About the role:
The Concept Development Team is responsible for leading the identification, development, and integration of cutting-edge technologies into the Rhythmia mapping & navigation platform.  The Concept Development Team partners with Clinicians around the globe to design and develop novel algorithms and tools that continue to revolutionize electroanatomical mapping and arrhythmia treatment.  The Senior Manager of the Concept Development team is responsible for leading the team through exploratory development to establish feasibility and performance of new concepts partnering with the Marketing, Software, Hardware & Systems Development, and Clinical functions.

Your responsibilities include: 

  • Manage multidisciplinary team of engineers working on advanced technology concepts
  • Drive development of creative solutions or novel technology to advance BSC’s R&D competency and expand the EP portfolio 
  • Work with EP Franchise leadership to establish strategic priorities for the product pipeline and provide routine updates to Director and VP functional management as needed.
  • Provide guidance regarding technical strategies and support R&D activities on critical projects spanning across exploratory work, technology development and product development
  • Build external physician collaborations to ensure deep understanding of customer needs and integration into the design and evaluation process
  • Partner with pre-clinical, clinical and other R&D members in a cross-functional and multidisciplinary environment to achieve project success.
  • Take an active role in driving functional excellence to continuously improve R&D capability & execution.
  • Demonstrates effective change leadership
  • Manage intellectual property portfolio and physician contracts
  • Ensure deep understanding of customer needs and integration into the design and evaluation process
  • Create a culture of high expectations, accountability, strong engineering fundamentals. 
  • Drive functional excellence and delivery of high-quality deliverables, and ensure technical excellence for product or technical development
  • Builds strategic partnerships across Boston Scientific to further organizational objectives
  • Maintains and enhances cross-functional team relationships and works cross-functionally to identify, mitigate, and resolve technical issues and challenges
  • Lead a team of employees in the achievement of organizational, team and career goals. Guide, coach, motivate, and develop talent.

  • Recruit, develop, and maintain a high-quality staff to provide technical leadership for diverse R&D projects.
  • Determine appropriate staff levels, schedules, and resources to support product and technology development projects
  • Identify opportunities, create project plans and budgets for prospective projects, and propose to the organization
  • Manage cost center budget and ensure efficient resource utilization
  • Provide routine feedback and coaching to individual contributors using the BSC Performance Assessment and Development Plan processes

 

What we’re looking for in you:
Minimum Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (MS or PhD) with minimum of 5+ years of work experience
  • Proven experience managing and developing teams 
  • Experience with electrophysiology products or medical equipment with visualization or navigation
  • Demonstrated capability to lead high performing technical teams tackling complex problems
  • Working knowledge of preclinical models and lab environment
  • Experience working in pre-clinical, clinical lab, and healthcare environment and proven ability to build collaborative relationships with physicians and scientific collaborators
  • Proven success with the full cycle of product development including Exploratory, Technology Development & Product Development
  • Demonstrated capability to lead and work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Proven technical leadership in medical device or healthcare related industry
  • Experience with Class II and Class III medical device product development
  • Excellent knowledge of Design Controls & Risk Management practices 
  • Results-oriented and focused on delivering timely, accurate, and premium execution
  • High integrity, accountability & a strong bias for action
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills as well as organizational skills
