Associate Quality Director – Nalu

 

About the role:
Boston Scientific is seeking an experienced and highly capable Associate Quality Director to support the Nalu site within the Neuromod/Acquisition space. This role will serve as both the Site Head of Quality and Management Representative (MREP), providing end-to-end leadership across the site’s quality function.

 

This position is aligned to a ~2-year site-based assignment in Carlsbad, CA, supporting a critical phase in the Nalu integration. While the role is tied to this assignment, the individual will remain a full-time Boston Scientific employee with future opportunities for redeployment within the organization.

 

This is a highly visible leadership role requiring broad quality expertise, strong cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to lead teams through a dynamic and evolving environment.

 

Your responsibilities include:
•    Serve as the Head of Quality for the Nalu site, with full ownership of the site-level quality system
•    Act as the Management Representative (MREP), ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory and quality standards
•    Provide leadership across all quality functions, including: 
o    Operations Quality
o    Design Quality Assurance
o    Post-market surveillance and activities
•    Lead and maintain audit readiness, serving as a key point of contact for internal and external audits
•    Drive quality system effectiveness and execution across the site
•    Partner cross-functionally with Operations, R&D, and other stakeholders to support product quality and compliance objectives
•    Lead a team of ~25+ quality professionals, providing direction, coaching, and performance management
•    Maintain strong organizational alignment and execution during a period of significant transition for the site
•    Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement

 

What we’re looking for in you: 
Minimal Qualifications:
•    Bachelor’s degree in a science-related or engineering discipline
•    Minimum of 10 years of related functional quality engineering experience within a regulated industry (e.g., medical device)
•    Minimum of 5 years of direct managerial experience leading large and diverse teams across a highly matrixed organization.
•    Experience operating in an audit-facing environment with strong knowledge of quality systems and regulatory expectations
•    Broad understanding of end-to-end quality systems, including operations, design, and post-market activities

Preferred Qualifications:
•    Background supporting complex or transitional organizations, including site changes or end-of-life product/site strategies
•    Ability to influence and lead across multiple functions and stakeholder groups
•    Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills

The anticipated compensation listed above and the value of core and optional employee benefits offered by Boston Scientific (BSC) – see www.bscbenefitsconnect.com—will vary based on actual location of the position and other pertinent factors considered in determining actual compensation for the role. Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

 

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).

 

Compensation for exempt, non-sales roles may also include variable compensation, i.e., annual bonus target and long-term incentives (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
