About the Role:
This individual directs, develops, and manages a team of Buyers responsible for procuring all raw materials that directly support Cartago Operations, getting the right product to the right place at the right time, utilizing ERP systems and tools to meet or exceed both service and inventory targets in a fast-paced environment. This individual is responsible for proactively monitoring and communicating supply constraints, while partnering with Materials Management, Global Sourcing, Quality, and Operations to mitigate risk within the Supply Chain. In addition, he/she is responsible for Vendor Invoice Maintenance, Excess and Obsolescence, and Inventory/ Purchase Price Variance Reporting. In addition to core responsibilities, the Purchasing Supervisor leads and facilitates continuous improvement projects that enable the Direct Purchasing Team to be more efficient and effective. The Purchasing Supervisor is required to thoroughly understand the commodities and value streams they and their team of Buyers support to give the organization a competitive advantage.
Your Responsibilities Include:
· Coordinates with the Production and Global Supply Chain Planners to maintain optimal service levels and determine the proper priorities for material support
· Tracks and monitors purchase orders, keeping informed of any problems/delays and communicates any impacts/constraints to the Production Planner, Manufacturing Manager/Supervisor or other discipline impacted by the change
· Supports material needs for the product development process to ensure BSCs competitive first to market strategy
· Displays leadership by initiating change ideas and driving implementation
· Formulates purchasing decisions to achieve internal customer service targets, targeted inventory turns and least total cost material procurement
· Provides Inventory projections on a quarterly basis to achieve annual inventory targets. Identifies expired, excess and obsolete materials and dispositions the material appropriately.
· Supplier Management: Monitors and communicates quality and delivery performance to the supplier
· Responsible to resolve supplier related problems (works closely with suppliers to assure a positive and professional relationship, always establishing and maintaining open lines of communication.)
· Reviews and approves all raw material document change orders
· Interfaces with Engineering, Production Planning and Quality to ensure timely throughput and proper prioritization of materials.
· Computer and Systems Knowledge: Possess working knowledge of computer system; Intermediate knowledge of key Microsoft programs in addition to SAP and Rapid Response. Ensure employees are following documented Purchasing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with GMP and ISO requirements; Develops, establishes and administers reports and systems that allow for a cost effective and efficient purchasing function.
· Inventory Management: Understands and develops inventory plan for categories under buyer code. May work to coordinate roll up of all categories within the plant. Understand broader strategic implications of this plan. Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and manage long-term implementation strategies. Challenges status quo to drive improvements. Mgt support as required.
· Project Management: Leads sub-projects that are cross-functional and cross-network in nature. Directly responsible to achieve results. Creates project plans (including contingency planning) for projects with direction. Demonstrates accountability for project results regardless of outcome, including financial and schedule.
· SI&OP participation: Ensure sufficient inventory in house to meet build plan. Operate within safety stock guidelines. Ensure forecasts submission to suppliers. Identify future supply risks. Understand demand changes and challenge changes within lead time. Serves as mentor and trainer to jr. buyers within Materials Management organization.
· Partner with Operations, Global Sourcing, Global Supply Chain Planning, Supplier Engineering, Supplier Quality: Proactively works with Manager to identify personal and business development opportunities, as well as networking opportunities. Seeks out opportunities to gain additional insight beyond current function to deliver great results for BSC. Thinks and acts win-win. Receives positive feedback related to engagement and interaction in team settings.
· AOP and results (PPV): Continues to build knowledge base on strategic implications for the annual PPV . Is responsible for PO's at correct pricing to avoid unfavorable PPV (including tiered pricing). Mgt support and coaching may be required.
· Invoice Management: Ensure invoice issues are dealt with in a timely fashion to avoid credit hold with supplier.
· MRP: Ensure there is sufficient stock to support requirements in line with MRP. Working with suppliers to accommodate increases/decreases in MRP. Work with senior team members/SAP BPL to identify and correct MRP errors. Mgt and/or mentor coaching and support may be required.
· Supply Management utilizing KPIs: Demonstrate understanding of Supplier Scorecard Metrics and provide data as required to populate and support supplier scorecard development and updates.
· VIP: Continues to build capability and actively contributes to planning and management of cross-functional, cross-site, multi-supplier, VIP implementations with Mgt oversight and coaching.
· Staff Development: Develop staff through coaching, mentoring and recruiting; Work with, review and evaluate buyer recommendations on supply replenishment processes and inventory management strategies; Responsible for the motivation and development of employees to optimize their personal and professional growth; Demonstrate leadership, set continuous improvement goals and department objectives, review performance regularly and deliver salary and performance reviews, always rewarding performance;
Create an environment of positive reinforcement and teamwork; Actively increase technical expertise in Purchasing.
· Department Supervision: Develop and implement department strategies; Responsible to staff, direct and organize a particular area of the Purchasing function; Achieve the corporate goals and objectives at the lowest possible total cost; Work toward continuous improvement and streamlining of the procurement process to eliminate non-value activities; Understand responsibility to maintain department budget.
What We’re Looking For:
· Degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering or applicable field.
· At least 7 years of experience in similar position.
· English Level: 70-80%.
· Desired knowledge: SAP, Supplier Management.
· Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
