About the role:

The Field Health Economics & Market Access (HEMA) Manager is responsible for supporting and communicating economic value in partnership with field sales to differentiate and promote Boston Scientific Urology devices within the Endourology, Men’s Health and Urologic Cancer businesses. This role utilizes clinical and economic evidence and tools to deliver value propositions, understand value drivers, and refine and test solution-oriented strategies to positively influence business objectives. Work Mode

This is a field-based (remote), customer and commercial-facing position with a preference for the employee to be based in a major metropolitan area within Eastern Central states. Preferred candidates will be located in Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Missouri or Tennessee (near a major airport). Domestic travel is estimated up to 40%.

 

 Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Develop, implement and deliver independently or in partnership with commercial colleagues, customized reimbursement, health economics, market access, and value education on products within the Urology portfolio.
  • Work in partnership with sales and sales leadership to plan and prioritize customer meetings, delivering economic and value messages in support of BSC priorities.
  • Develop relationships with physician champions to provide appropriate value propositions and education for impactful interactions with healthcare administrators and decision-makers.
  • Effectively educate and train the sales team on streamlined health economic insights, tools, and messaging.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to anticipate market needs and inform the development of customer-facing tools, economic models, and other tactical elements of reimbursement to optimize patient access to BSC technologies.
  • Contribute to the continuous update of market insights and payer landscape tools based on changes in market dynamics such as new product introductions, changes in therapeutic needs, and competitive landscape.
  • Ensure health economic and value selling methodologies and messages are consistent and compliant with legal and regulatory guidance.
  • Provide education and training to healthcare providers, office staff, and sales organization on reimbursement processes, coding requirements, and billing procedures.
  • Assist with appeal and denial management in cases where insurance claims are denied, or coverage is inadequate and help healthcare providers navigate the appeals process while strictly adhering to HIPAA compliant policies and procedures.
  • Troubleshoot national and local payer reimbursement and policy issues and advocate directly with payers on policy advocacy in the interest of maximizing patient access to care.

 

Required qualifications: 

  • 5+ years of experience working in the medical device or healthcare industries.
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a focus on health policy, health economics, healthcare administration, health services research or similar.
  • Knowledge of US health care policy and payment systems, including Medicare and commercial payers, physician, and hospital reimbursement, for inpatient and outpatient sites of service.
  • Ability to use financial calculators, MS Excel and PowerPoint to demonstrate how BSC products impact facility economics or healthcare system economically and financially.
  • Strong ability to present complex health economic information to both large and small influential groups in a way that is credible, easy to understand and engages the audience.
  • Field based position with overnight travel estimated up to 40%.
  • Reside within 45-minutes of a major airport.

 

Preferred qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience with Urology services and the associated medical devices
  • An advanced degree such as an MBA, MPH, MHA, MS, MSc in health policy, health economics, healthcare administration, health services research, public health or similar discipline is highly desired
  • In-depth experience with AI systems, processes and solutions, payer database analyses and reporting are highly desirable
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with ability to develop relationships at all levels in an organization which impact organizational business goals.
  • Conversationally fluent with medical coding and site-of-service specific reimbursement

The anticipated compensation listed above and the value of core and optional employee benefits offered by Boston Scientific (BSC) – see www.bscbenefitsconnect.com--will vary based on actual location of the position and other pertinent factors considered in determining actual compensation for the role. Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

 

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).

 

Compensation for exempt, non-sales roles may also include variable compensation, i.e., annual bonus target and long-term incentives (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
