We are seeking a SMT Process Technician II on a permanent basis to join our team in the Clonmel site. The shift for this position will include night shift.

 

Job Purpose: 

As an SMT Technician, you will play a key role in supporting, optimizing, and troubleshooting our SMT manufacturing processes. You’ll work hands-on with industry-leading equipment and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure our products meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee and perform tooling/fixturing qualifications, preventative and unscheduled maintenance, and calibration for SMT equipment, including:
    • Siemens ASM pick-and-place machines
    • Heller reflow ovens
    • DEK screen printers
    • CyberOptics AOI systems
    • Koh Young and CyberOptics SPI systems
    • Asys laser marking and excise systems
    • Nordson dispense systems
  • Provide daily technical support to sustain and improve SMT manufacturing operations, troubleshooting equipment and process issues.
  • Apply structured problem-solving methodologies (DMAIC, root cause analysis) to resolve process and equipment challenges.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers to develop, standardize, and enhance SMT production methods and procedures.
  • Represent the SMT team in production and cross-site meetings, building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Perform routine and non-routine technical assignments using established methods.
  • Work closely with quality, engineering, and operations teams to drive improvements in product quality and process efficiency.
  • Maintain proficiency with SMT equipment user interfaces and software controls.

 

Education & Experience: 

  • Minimum Higher Certificate NFQ Level 6 qualification in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in SMT manufacturing or a similar high-volume electronics production environment.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and experience working within a regulated industry.
  • Demonstrated expertise in maintenance and calibration for SMT equipment.
  • Hands-on experience with the SMT technologies listed above.
