Purchasing Supervisor

Purpose: 

We are hiring a Purchasing Supervisor until the end of 2025 to lead a team of buyers. You will be responsible for obtaining materials, components, and equipment. You will determine material requirements from engineering and production schedules and maintain inventory at planned levels. You will plan, schedule, and monitor the movement of materials through the production cycle. You will evaluate vendor reliability and develop new supply sources where vendors and suppliers are inadequate. You will monitor cost, schedule, and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure the best quality at the best value. You will develop specifications for new contract orders. 

 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Lead and develop a team of buyers, providing coaching and mentorship. 
  • Facilitate lean business process meetings and purchasing KPIs. 
  • Manage component supply and inventory levels for product line(s), planning and purchasing for material requirements, and ensuring the flow of materials to the production floor. 
  • Develop and enhance relationships with strategic suppliers/partners. Serve as the primary contact and foster positive and mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers. 
  • Collaborate with planning monthly to confirm that the demand signal in SAP is accurate per the latest SIOP cycle. 
  • Expedite and prioritize critical inventory on receipt through receiving, IQA, and material handling. 
  • Conduct supply gap analysis, identify risks and mitigation strategies, and clearly communicate risks, mitigations, and actions with key stakeholders. 
  • Project inventory needs for financial plans and conduct monthly monitoring for execution. 
  • Manage escalations and communicate inventory risks to close gaps via sourcing, vendors, and internal stakeholders. 
  • Lead purchasing-related projects. 

 

 

Experience/Education: 

  • Must have a Level 8 degree in a related field (Business, Supply Chain, or other). 
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar buyer/planner role within a manufacturing environment. 
  • SAP experience is desirable, and S4Hana is highly advantageous. 
  • Advanced Excel skills are essential. 
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to plan strategically across production.
