We are seeking an R&D Manager I on a permanent basis to join our team in Clonmel.
Job Purpose:
This is an exciting opportunity to lead a growing R&D team in Boston Scientific Clonmel. This team is responsible for the development of new medical-device products with global partners, ensuring the successful integration of new business units into Boston Scientific, and the sustaining of commercial medical-device products based in the Clonmel plant. The successful candidate will be passionate about innovation in the medical-device industry, and will contribute strongly to the formation of future departmental strategies on talent, technology & capability development. The role will require global collaboration with several on-site & cross-site functions throughout the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Recruits, coaches and develops organizational talent.
- Coordinates design work with other internal and external functions.

- Keeps the organization's vision and values at the forefront of decision making and action.
- Demonstrates effective change leadership.

- Develops and executes organizational and operational policies that affect one or more groups by utilizing technical/professional knowledge and skills.
- Monitors compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Makes decisions regarding work processes or operational plans and schedules, in order to achieve department objectives.
- Develops, monitors and appropriately adjusts the annual budget for department(s).
- Establishes the strategy & vision of the team. Ensures that strategies provide value to the consumer and create a sustainable competitive advantage in the market place.
Management Requirements:
- May lead a group or team of employees in the achievement of organizational goals.
- Guide, coach, direct, and develop direct reports, and if applicable, drive those practices throughout their organization.
- Foster a diverse workplace that enables all participants to contribute to their full potential in pursuit of organizational objectives.
- May direct and control the activities and budget of one or more functional areas, divisions, product groups, projects/programs and/or operations.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures (e.g. federal/country and regulatory requirements).
Education and Experience Requirements
- Level 8 Honors Bachelors Degree in Mechanical/Biomedical Engineering or similar discipline.
- Minimum 5-7 years demonstrated People and Technical Leadership within a comparable environment.
