Senior Buyer

Purpose: 

 

Currently hiring a Senior Buyer until the end of 2025 who will be responsible for obtaining materials & components.  You will determine material requirements from engineering and production schedules and maintain inventory at planned levels.  This position requires the successful individual to Plan, schedule, and monitor the movement of materials through production.  

 

Responsibilities: 

 

  • Manage component supply and inventory levels for product line(s), plan and purchase material requirements, ensuring the flow of materials to the production floor. 

  • Expedite and lead prioritization of critical inventory on receipt through receiving, IQA, and material handling. 

  • Lead supply gap analysis, identify risks and mitigations, and clearly communicate findings to key stakeholders. 

  • Escalate supply shortages with global sourcing and supplier engineering to expedite orders and alternate sourcing. 

  • Evaluate and select suppliers based on assessment of their quality system and capabilities. 

  • Understand and communicate component specifications to suppliers, including the ability to read drawings to determine dimensions, tolerances, and Incoming Quality Control (IQC) points. 

  • Develop and enhance relationships with strategic supplier/partners. Serve as primary contact and foster positive and mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers. 

  • Coordinate early supplier involvement in product development and purchase required materials to support product development and product launches. 

  • Ensure that Confidentiality Agreements and necessary contracts are established with suppliers. 

  • Manage the implementation of suppliers, including ensuring the completion of appropriate first articles and validations. 

 

Experience/Education: 

 

  • Must have a Level 8 degree in a related field (Business, Supply Chain, or other) 

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment 

  • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and manage long-term strategies 

  • Buyer/Planner experience in the Electronics/Healthcare manufacturing industry is an advantage 

  • SAP experience is essential; S4Hana is highly advantageous 

  • Advanced Excel skills are essential 

  • Data analytics is an advantage 

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to plan strategically across production
