We are seeking a Senior Process Engineer on a permanent basis to join our team.
Job Purpose:
Provide technical and project leadership for the development, optimisation, and lifecycle management of functional and in circuit test equipment across preproduction and production. The Senior Process Engineer owns the technical performance, delivery, and sustainability of test systems while leading engineers, coordinating cross functional projects, and influencing strategic decisions that impact product quality, yield, cost, and time to market.
This role balances deep technical expertise with people leadership and project execution, acting as a key interface between Design, Operations, Quality, Program Management, and Process Development to deliver robust, scalable, and production ready test solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical and System Leadership
-
Lead the end-to-end architecture, design, and development of complex electrical test systems spanning hardware, software, firmware, and automation.
-
Act as technical authority for assigned test platforms, making design trade-offs aligned to quality, cost, schedule, and manufacturability.
-
Provide technical direction to multidisciplinary engineers and technicians, ensuring alignment to standards, best practices, and business priorities.
-
Own technical risk assessment and mitigation strategies for test system designs.
People Leadership and Capability Development
-
Mentor, coach, and technically develop junior and midlevel engineers through structured reviews, feedback, and on-the-job guidance.
-
Lead task planning and work allocation within project teams, balancing capability, development needs, and delivery commitments.
-
Contribute to succession planning and capability building within the ePD organisation.
-
Set expectations for engineering quality, accountability, and professional standards; role model desired behaviours.
-
Support hiring, onboarding, and technical assessment of new engineers as required.
Project and Program Execution
-
Lead or co-lead test system development projects, owning scope definition, schedules, dependencies, and delivery of milestones.
-
Partner closely with Program Management to develop realistic plans, manage risks, and resolve execution challenges.
-
Drive cross functional alignment across Design, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, and external vendors.
-
Escalate issues effectively, proposing data driven options and recommendations to leadership.
-
Ensure test development deliverables support overall NPI and sustaining manufacturing timelines.
Prototype Development and Design for Test
-
Lead the build, bring up, and refinement of prototype test systems, coordinating resources and priorities across teams.
-
Drive structured root cause analysis for complex system issues, ensuring timely resolution and knowledge capture.
-
Actively influence product design through design fortest (DFT) input, ensuring downstream manufacturability and test coverage.
Verification, Validation, and Compliance
-
Define and own verification and validation strategies for test platforms, aligned with risk, regulatory, and business needs.
-
Ensure compliance with internal design controls and external regulatory standards (e.g. ISO, IEC, FDA).
-
Review, approve, and defend validation protocols and reports; act as a technical representative in audits and inspections.
Manufacturing Integration and Process Ownership
-
Lead the transfer of test systems into production, including training, SOP development, and readiness reviews.
-
Own test process performance metrics (yield, uptime, repeatability) and drive corrective actions where required.
-
Partner with sustaining teams to ensure long term supportability, scalability, and continuous improvement of deployed systems.
Continuous Improvement and Strategic Contribution
-
Lead cross functional improvement initiatives to reduce test time, improve robustness, and lower cost of ownership.
-
Use data and analytics to prioritise improvements and guide decision making.
-
Evaluate emerging technologies and influence technology roadmaps for test and automation.
-
Contribute to functional strategy, standards development, and long term capability planning within ePD.
Communication, Influence, and Representation
-
Communicate complex technical and project information clearly to technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
-
Facilitate design reviews, risk reviews, and project updates with authority and clarity.
-
Represent the Electrical Process Development team in technical forums, governance meetings, and external audits as a recognised SME.
Education & Experience:
-
Hons bachelor’s degree (BSc) in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent required; Master’s degree preferred.
-
6+ years’ experience in a regulated manufacturing environment, with significant experience in test system development.
-
Demonstrated experience leading engineers and delivering complex projects from concept through production.
-
Strong background in structured problem solving (FMEA, 8D, DMAIC) and riskbased decision making.
-
Proficiency in LabVIEW, Python, or similar test automation environments.
-
Experience with PCB design tools (e.g. Altium, OrCAD), hardware development, microcontrollers, and sensor systems.
-
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
-
Proven track record of mentoring engineers, leading technical reviews, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
