We are seeking a Senior Sourcing Specialist on a permanent basis to join our team.

 

 

Job Purpose:

 

 

Partner with best in industry suppliers to provide materials, products, innovation and services that drive a competitive advantage for Boston Scientific. Responsible for developing and executing optimal category & sourcing strategies. Build & enhance supplier relationships to drive sourcing & supplier initiatives to meet or exceed product quality, service & deliver sustainable cost reductions, whilst reducing or mitigating risk in the Supply Chain.  Monitors market dynamics and communicates changes that affect internal client needs.  Partners with internal clients and stakeholders to identify sourcing needs, conduct buyer/market profiles, share marketplace trends, share best practices, increase value proposition, and reduce TCO.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

 

  • Computer and Systems Knowledge:  Strong knowledge of key Microsoft programs which may include SAP, Tableau, SQL and Ariba or other equivalent systems. May be involved in mentoring junior specialists in use of systems.
  • Indirect Sourcing knowledge & provision of services.
  • Project Management:  Leads sub-projects that are cross-functional and cross-network in nature. Directly responsible to achieve results.  Creates project plans (including contingency planning) for projects with direction.  Demonstrates accountability for project results regardless of outcome, including financial and schedule.
  • SI&OP process knowledge:  (Direct Sourcing) Exhibiting strong functional knowledge of tools and techniques for demand planning and management. Understands supply and inventory operation planning cycles, inputs and outputs. Leverage knowledge to drive/influence conversations with suppliers and internal stakeholders. Uses demand and capacity planning when selecting/negotiating with suppliers.
  • Support NPD, transitions, and acquisitions:  Collaborate with and influence core teams for NPD, integration and transfers to support projects, identify and mitigate risk, align with strategic supply base, and deliver in accordance with schedules and cost targets. Responsible for tasks related to new vendor set up. Positioning new vendors to align with Global Sourcing standards and targets.
  • Partnering with Suppliers, Supplier Engineering, Supplier Quality, Purchasing, & R&D:  Develops and utilizes experience across various functions and sites both internally and externally to deliver greater results for BSC.   Develops self through partnerships and mentoring.  Thinks and acts win-win.   Creates an environment where individuals recognize each other's achievements.  Routinely sought out to participate on projects with others.
  • Negotiation (Pricing, Terms, etc.):  Has hands-on experience in leading and conducting negotiations Is aware of and comprehends the principles of negotiation. Is trained in both general and legal negotiations. Understands how business decisions and legal decisions work together in the negotiation process and knows who the decision-maker is in each negotiation. Owns the bidding process and helps with internal customers’ needs so those items can be achieved in the negotiation. Has a strong foundation in planning and preparation for negotiations.
  • Sourcing Methodology and Strategic Category Management Social Responsibility (environment, supplier diversity, etc.):  Utilizes strategic sourcing methodologies (spend analysis, market research, benchmarking, negotiation, contracting and continuous improvement) to lead the category team to refine and execute category strategies that incorporate stakeholder feedback and meet Global Sourcing objectives for Quality, Services and Cost. Advocates and socializes category strategies.
  • Supplier Management (Contracts - Business Ethics and Laws, Business Reviews, Risk Management):  Represents organization with integrity as a primary contact on supplier contracts. Responsible for contract and vendor management activities such as strategic reviews and site visits. Maintains supplier performance review metrics & scorecards.  Coordinates commercial actions with internal stakeholders. Manages service escalations. Identifies and mitigates of risk. Escalates high risk issues to management.
  • AOP and results (PPV):  (Direct Sourcing) Negotiate, document, approve and advise on all AOP deliverables for  all assigned suppliers. Ensure inputs are correct, work to prevent supplier related unfavorable PPV and address any proposed increases. Seek out cost reductions with supply base year round. Support continuous improvement for AOP.
  • VIP: Strong analytical and conceptual skills linking ideas to value improvements. Understanding of larger company strategy in order to select, govern and innovate with supply base. Looks for trends in category to drive continuous improvement with larger procurement team. Gathering data and driving key business opportunities to achieve company metrics. Promotes and works towards balanced continuous (year-on-year) value improvement for all aspects of quality, service and cost with assigned supply base. Manages supplier performance and identifies Value Improvement Program's to improve TCO accordingly.

 

 

Education & Experience:

 

 

  • NFQ level 8 Honours in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics or any other similar discipline
  • Min 3+ years experience in a similar role.
  • Medical Device experience would be desirable but not essential.
  • Strong relationship building and stakeholder management experience.
