We are seeking a Senior Supplier Engineer on a permanent basis to join our team.
Job Purpose:
A fully qualified engineer conversant in all subject areas relevant to supplier and supplied material qualification. Devises new approaches to problems encountered. Engineering specialty involves the improvement of existing manufacturing processes related to plastic and metal components, interfacing with supplier and internal engineering groups in resolving problems encountered in the supply chain. Work is usually independently performed with general instructions as to the objectives expected. Receives technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval on proposed plans for projects
Key Responsibilities:
· Executes plans to support supply chain objectives; supplier performance, supplied material risk mitigation and execution of material value improvement projects. Proficient in the use of all business tools.
· Leads and/or participates in project teams coordinating the efforts of engineers and cross functional team members to qualify and improve supplier processes. Plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed phases of the engineering work for part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope.
· Performs work which involves conventional engineering practice but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of standard materials, and difficult coordination requirements.
· Lead NCEP/CAPA/Complaint investigations where supplied material is a potential root cause. Expert in the use of statistical tools (re. Six Sigma Green Belt). Can provide guidance to junior engineering staff on problem solving methodology. Familiar with analytical techniques commonly used to investigate component defects. Proficiency in report writing, presentation creation and communication skills.
· May need to travel to supplier sites (5-10% travel.
Education & Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree required in Engineering
· 5+ yrs. Engineering experience
· Excellent project management and communication skills.
· Individual must be self-motivated, and results orientated.
Preferred Qualifications
· Previous experience in working with suppliers in the medical device industry
· Previous experience with manufacturing metal and plastic components
· Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Chemical or Material Science
