We are seeking a Process Chemist III on a permanent basis to join our team.
Job Purpose:

The Process Chemist independently leads and delivers chemical process development, optimisation, and scale-up activities across the product lifecycle, from laboratory design through to commercial manufacturing.
This role applies advanced technical expertise in chemistry and process engineering to resolve complex manufacturing challenges, improve process robustness, and support regulatory compliance. The Chemist (P3) acts as a technical subject matter contributor, influencing cross-functional teams and supporting continuous improvement initiatives with minimal supervision
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, optimisation, and scale-up of chemical processes for new and existing products, ensuring safety, quality, and manufacturability.
- Independently plan and execute laboratory, pilot-scale, and plant-relevant experiments, including DoE, reaction optimisation, workup design, and product characterisation.
- Serve as a technical lead for assigned processes or projects, providing expert input to Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain teams.
- Analyse and improve existing manufacturing processes using advanced chemistry, process engineering principles, and Lean Six Sigma tools.
- Lead technology transfer activities from development to manufacturing, ensuring robust process understanding and successful implementation.
- Proactively troubleshoot complex process deviations, leading root cause investigations and defining sustainable corrective actions.
- Define, justify, and defend critical process parameters (CPPs) to support validation activities, regulatory submissions, and process robustness.
- Implement and enhance process monitoring strategies, including PAT and statistical trending, to drive control and continuous improvement.
- Author and review technical reports, SOPs, batch documentation, and validation protocols, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- Provide technical mentoring and guidance to junior chemists and operations staff, supporting capability development across the team.
- Represent Process Chemistry in cross-functional forums, risk assessments, and project reviews.
Quality System Requirements
Demonstrates a strong commitment to patient safety and product quality by ensuring compliance with the Quality Policy, GMP requirements, and all applicable procedures.
Supports and promotes a culture of quality, continuous improvement, and EHS excellence within the function.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (Level 8 or higher) in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Science, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline.
- 4–6 years’ experience in a GMP-regulated environment as a Process, Manufacturing, or Development Chemist.
- Demonstrated expertise in synthetic and process chemistry, including route development, optimisation, and scale-up.
- Proven ability to independently lead technical workstreams and deliver results with limited supervision.
- Strong data-driven problem-solving and statistical analysis skills.
- Hands-on experience with technology transfer, validation support, and pilot or commercial-scale operations.
- Solid understanding of cGMP, regulatory expectations, and quality systems.
- Excellent technical writing, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
