We are seeking an EH&S Specialist III to support our Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) programs at our Coventry, RI site. In this role, you will apply technical expertise, independent judgment, and creative problem-solving to ensure compliance, strengthen our safety culture, and drive continuous improvement.

You will work closely with site leadership and cross-functional teams to implement EH&S programs, support training initiatives, and help integrate safety and sustainability practices into daily operations. Work model, sponsorship, relocation:
At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows an onsite work model at our Coventry, RI location. Boston Scientific will not offer sponsorship or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this position at this time. Relocation assistance is not available for this position at this time.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

• Support the development, implementation, and review of the site’s Environmental Management System (ISO 14001), including training, awareness, and internal auditing activities.

• Assist with sustainability initiatives such as energy efficiency, waste reduction, and emissions reduction. Coordinate Green Team activities and community service/environmental awareness events.

• Ensure regulatory compliance with environmental programs (e.g., Stormwater, Tier II reporting, SPCC, Hazardous & Universal Waste, Air permits, CEMS). Maintain records, conduct self-assessments, and provide related employee training.

• Support the management of hazardous, regulated, and solid waste programs, including procedures, manifest tracking, and audit readiness.

• Partner with the Occupational Health Nurse to support health initiatives such as flu clinics, blood drives, bloodborne pathogen training, and wellness programs.

• Conduct ergonomic assessments (REBA, workstation reviews) and develop corrective actions to reduce ergonomic risks.

• Assist with compliance to site safety programs including Hot Work, Fall Protection, MHE Safety, Hazard Communication, Chemical Inventory, Confined Space, Contractor Safety, Electrical Safety, and LOTO programs. Conduct employee training and annual self-assessments.

• Track EH&S metrics such as TRIR, LWR, PBR, and SICR. Support action plans, inspection walkthroughs, and reporting improvements to strengthen site safety performance.

• Conduct industrial hygiene monitoring for ethylene oxide exposure and support mitigation activities, including employee training and reporting.

• Support emergency planning efforts, including evacuation drills, accident investigations, and root cause analysis.

• Participate in risk assessments, identify potential EH&S issues, and assist in developing corrective actions.

• Contribute to EH&S presentations, postings, and communications to keep employees informed and engaged.

• Partner with departments across the site to promote safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.

 

Qualifications:

Required qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Occupational Safety, Safety Engineering, Safety Management, or related field
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in an EH&S-related role
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and manage site-wide EH&S programs
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
• Experience delivering training sessions and presentations to employee groups

 

Preferred qualifications:
• Experience with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
• Background in manufacturing, sterilization, or industrial environments
• Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, REM, or CHMM
• Ergonomics risk assessment experience in manufacturing, lab, or office settings
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements, including air permits, CEMS systems, and related performance specifications
• DOT Hazardous Materials General Awareness certification (Title 49 CFR, Part 172, Subpart H)
• HAZWOPER certification
• RCRA Hazardous Waste Management certification (Title 40 CFR, Part 265)
