A Day in the Life of a Solution Architect – IT Supply Chain and ESG at Boston Scientific
In this role, you will work closely with business stakeholders, other architects (in the region and globally), product owners, and project managers daily. Your role is to collaborate and design solutions to solve business challenges that support the Business Strategies.
You will work with the business to understand its strategies and requirements to investigate existing or potential new solutions that can be implemented to support the business. You will enable vendor and solution selection processes by assessing the solutions, providing a high-level view of cost estimates, and making a recommendation.
You will enable the creation of a roadmap for the capabilities together with the business and for the solution while working with different stakeholders and understanding their needs, priorities, and cross-team dependencies. You will identify synergy opportunities and potential collaborations. You will influence peers and stakeholders to share a vision and be able to explain how the goals can be achieved.
You will contribute to the Enterprise Architecture practice by following the governance process and improving the maturity of capabilities, increasing the adoption of standards, or driving innovations and solutions for IT and Business. The business architecture team will guide and coach your work, leveraging the Business Capabilities framework to ensure priorities are aligned, and the business's maturity goals can be achieved.
In this role, you will report directly to the Global IT Supply Chain Manager
Responsibilities may include the following, and other duties may be assigned:
- Understand the business needs and challenges and determine ways to resolve them effectively
- Guide technology investment decisions based on analysis and evaluation to drive targeted business outcomes while ensuring nonfunctional requirements are met
- Ability to apply multiple technical solutions to enable future-state business capabilities that, in turn, drive targeted business outcomes
- Identify innovative uses of Information Systems to provide a competitive advantage for Boston Scientific.
- Architecturally support regional or divisional projects and initiatives
- Implement recommended architecture changes throughout the area of responsibility
- Adhere to documented architectural processes and procedures
- Recognize architectural problem areas and determine ways to effectively resolve them
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (completed)
- 3+ years in system design and development
- 1+ years in the Solution Architecture area.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite, Visio, LeanIX or relatable tools
- Experience in Cloud Technologies
- Advance English level
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in medical device or life sciences industry.
- Understand Strategic Planning process and how IT Strategy supports business needs and direction
