About the Role:
A Supplier Engineer I role concentrates in general on all aspects of supplier selection, supplier process & material changes and technical support for all purchased commodities in BSC Coyol. The Materials Supplier Engineering Team is responsible for the technical leadership and resolution functionally feasible engineering projects to support achieving year-on-year material cost reduction targets. Acts as a liaison between suppliers and BSC groups to manage and drive engineering projects with financial benefit.
Your Responsibilities Include:
- Planning and executing service risk mitigation measures to ensure component sourcing continuity.
- Assess value and financial impact for new business opportunities and value add engineering projects.
- Collaborating with Global Sourcing Category teams to establish and execute category objectives.
- Interfaces with suppliers to understand component/material processes and technical considerations. Partners with key suppliers to create efficiencies and value.
- Proactively identify and drive Materials Value Improvement Projects (MVIP’s) with suppliers at all Tiers in the supply chain. Takes into consideration the impact of design requirements on the supplier process and overall component cost impact.
- Partnering with Supplier Quality Engineering teams to investigate non-conformances of supplied material.
- Participates and leads project teams, cooperating with cross functional members to qualify and improve supplier processes. Plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope. Competent in the use of relevant business tools including material qualification activities and change impact assessments.
- Assesses and Approves Supplier Requested Process Changes.
- Develop and execute department budgets – headcount, overhead/project spend and capital planning/control.
- Competent to execute material qualification activities (component qualification, acceptance testing, statistical analysis) and knowledgeable in use of all relevant business tools and concepts (product data management).
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor's degree in Materials, Chemical, Mechanical, Electromechanical, Electronic, Electrical Industrial or equivalent experience.
- English Level desired: B2 (70% - 79%).
- Experience: 1+ years of experience in similar position
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Desirable Knowledge and experience in material testing.
