About the role:
Develops and manages a high performance Quality Specialist team with focus on customer needs, compliance, and department high performance. This person will be viewed as a leader or expert in their area of discipline, constantly promoting awareness of best industry practices and making appropriate decisions on a daily basis. This person will take a leadership role in developing and implementing new techniques and initiatives to enhance the Quality management system on site and across the Corporation where possible. Depending on the area of responsibility, many of the following Key Responsibilities will apply.
Your Responsibilities Include:
- Demonstrate a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality.
- Ensures all direct reports are aware of their commitment to patient safety and product quality, are current with their training requirements and that they understand and comply with all other regulations governing their work.
- Understands, Maintains and implements quality engineering systems and practices to meet BSC, customer and regulatory requirements.
- Serves as a quality representative for the department in all internal / external Audits as functional expert.
- Develops, maintains, and communicates metrics to appropriate management to help drive continuous quality and efficiency through the department.
- Coordinate the work activities within the various work teams and ensuring that adequate resources are available to meet customer expectations.
- Responsible for the release and maintenance of all associated department procedures to ensure compliance with Corporate.
- Maintains and enhances cross-functional /site team relationships.
- To build quality into all aspects of work by maintaining compliance to all quality requirements.
- Support new technologies / systems to enhance documentation systems and review process.
- Is an effective people manager resulting in a motivated high performance team and is fully motivated to achieve and demonstrate best practices in line with the department and Strategic Quality Planning (SQP) objectives.
- Provides direction and support to subordinates based on general policies and management guidance.
- Responsible for performing performance appraisals, for all reporting staff.
- Coordination of staff holidays and for ensuring sufficient cover is available to support during shut down periods.
- Responsible for ensuring the department operates within a set budget.
- Perform collection, analysis, and trending of quality indicator data in support of management review goals and objectives.
- Manage functional area to support engineering, quality, R&D and VIP projects.
- Ensure the necessary resources are available for the team to perform the daily activities and to meet the PMQA indicators/goals.
- OPEX Ambassador, part of the DNA, embrace the OPEX culture by showing ownership and accountability
- Knowledge of business metrics to drive results to meeting the organization goals
- Conduct daily management meetings with the team, with active participation, challenges people goals vs capacity, define challenging goals to drive team to success.
- Identify process improvements and agility projects to optimize the process.
- Assess that all the required training is properly assigned, and ensure training is completed on time, to make sure personnel is executing the tasks with the appropriate information
- Understands the escalations paths when issues/concerns are detected
- System knowledge to teach others and for process improvement
- System use for decision making, product approval, drive/train procedure updates as required.

- Makes decisions that improve the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of own team and related teams
- Guides by using policies and procedures and cascaded goals and objectives
- Provides input on resource planning, guidelines, processes and procedures
- Explains information to team members, internal clients and/or peers, conveys performance expectations and handles complex sensitive issues
- Works to establish collaborative relationships with internal and external contacts in order to achieve team objectives
- Handles challenging issues with employees and/or customers (internal or external) using sensitivity; effectively diffuses contentious or uncomfortable situations
What we're looking for:
- Bachelor or Licenciature degree in Industrial, Electronic, Biotechnology, Electromechanical Engineering or Related Field.
- English Level desired: 80-89%
- Experience: At least 5 years.
- Technical Competencies: Desirable ASQ Certified, ASQ certification (CQE, SSGB) desired, Problem Solving, Formal training on statistical and quality techniques desirable, Knowledge of QSR’s, Networking.
