About this role:

Responsible for driving the strategy and managing the execution of global clinical studies and clinical programs worldwide through clinical trial managers and/or involving departmental or cross-functional teams in support of the organizations business objectives for product development and/or commercialization. This is a managerial role responsible for overseeing  and directing the work of a team of Clinical Trial Managers.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Mentors and coaches clinical trials managers to deliver high quality clinical studies meeting objectives
  • Implements a staffing plan by identifying resource requirements, writing justifications for additional personnel, obtaining approval for changes, and coordinating the selection process with Human Resources
  • Develops direct reports by securing appropriate training, assigning progressively challenging tasks, applying progressive disciplinary action as appropriate and conducting formal written and verbal performance reviews.
  • Monitors daily work operations and provides direction and guidance to staff
  • Identifies, develops and implements processes to improve functional and the department’s performance
  • Interprets and executes policies and clinical processes for the personnel within the assigned organizational unit
  • Promotes cross-functional collaboration and interaction to build strong team
  • Leads, directs and executes clinical studies and/or programs worldwide in accordance with strategy, project plans, approved budget and resource allocations following applicable regulatory and standard operating procedures
  • Informs and presents study progress and known risks to Clinical leadership.
  • Recruits, manages and develops Principals, Associates and Specialists. Mentors and coaches all level of Clinical Trial Management
  • Represents clinical trial management function on product advisories, interactions with Regulatory Agencies and for evaluation of business opportunities that may include due diligence
  • Provides clinical input for new product development, business development and post-market activities
  • Reviews clinical study deliverables (i.e. study protocols, IC, regulatory reports, abstracts and manuscripts)
  • May review vendor contracts and may provide vendor oversight
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with internal and external scientific, technical and organizational leaders to support clinical and product strategies including clinicians and study investigators.


 What we're looking for you:

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 9+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Clinical trial/clinical study experience

Preferred qualifications

  • Previous people management experience
  • Cardiac Rhythm Management or Electrophysiology Clinical trial or technical experience
  • Prior experience with Regulatory agencies (i.e. FDA, BSI etc.) and/or prior audit experience is a plus
  • Global experience preferred
  • Advanced degree
  • A professional with a wide-range of experience and expertise in a specialized technical therapeutic field
  • Ability to apply comprehensive technical knowledge of a particular field to resolve complex issues in creative ways
  • Ability to use in-depth knowledge of business unit functions and cross group dependencies/relationships
  • Therapeutic knowledge in electrophysiology (EP) or multiple clinical trial experience in EP
