EH&S - P2 (Specialist II, EH&S)

 

Responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring policies and procedures to ensure that the company meets and complies with all applicable regulations pertaining to Environmental Health and Safety (EHS).  Assures appropriate corrective action is taken where health and safety hazards exist.  Conducts training of employees in hazardous materials handling, emergency response, industrial hygiene, safety, etc.  Evaluates work-related injuries according to worker's compensation laws and other regulations

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Enforce and interpret company policies and procedures related to EHS by inspecting plant facilities to identify potential hazards, analyzing operating records and reports, monitoring environmental indicators, responding to and documenting all inquiries regarding environmental or industrial hygiene issues, implementing corrective action where necessary, and ensuring that established procedures are followed correctly.
  • Assist in the management of the site's Ergonomics Program.  Act as a liaison to associates and others receiving or requesting ergonomic evaluations.  Provide Ergonomic Evaluations (Using BSC preferred tools) with the assistance of the EHS Manager.  Coordinate follow-up activities, track evaluations as per action plan established per manufacturing line.
  • Generate reports and coordinate scheduling monitoring.  (Example: Recycling Quarterly Report, Explosive Report, Water Discharge and Diesel Consumption).
  • Support the safety behavior programs in the manufacturing lines.
  • Act as the facility’s Pollution Prevention/Waste Minimization/Recycling Site representative. Promote cost-savings/cost-avoidance measures throughout all operations of the facility.
  • Act as the facilities’ Hazardous Materials/Waste Coordinator to include the disposition of hazardous, non-regulated, and biomedical waste streams, including maintaining professional contacts with approved waste vendors.
  •  Support and promote waste minimization activities.
  • Support and collaborates in our ISO Management System and activities. Promoting and improving environment, health and safety standards, processes, and procedures.
  • Actively work to maintain ISO 14001 certification at the facility.
  • Evaluate and document work-related injuries according to worker's compensation laws and other regulations by exercising judgment based on regulatory knowledge and experience.
  • Correspond with appropriate agencies to conduct site investigations, report actions taken by the Company to correct discrepancies, submit all required applications, forms, licenses, and permits and remain in compliance with regulations.
  • Serve as EH&S representation in cross functional operation projects for new process/chemical introduction, capacity expansion, facility changes, new equipment introduction, etc.
  • Conduct EH&S compliance audits, self-assessments, and inspections throughout the facilities.
  • Identify hazardous workplace conditions and establishes guidelines for compliance, risk and injury reduction.
  • Takes effective steps to ensure that workplace conditions comply with applicable local, national, and state regulations.
  • Provide regulatory guidance and recommendations for equipment specifications/installations, and facilities modifications.
  • Participate in regulatory inspections and serve as liaison with regulatory agencies.
  • Specify requirements and develop systems to ensure on-going operational permit compliance.
  • Serve as EH&S representation in cross functional operation projects for new process/chemical introduction, capacity expansion, facility changes, new equipment introduction, etc. Provide and maintains documentation of trainings and certifications (where applicable) in safety regulations, procedures, and compliance requirements to personnel that deal with specific environmental responsibilities (e.g., chemicals, air, water, solid wastes, emergency response team).
  • Conduct and documents New Employee Orientation (NEO) to educate new hires about safety policies, regulatory laws and practices, and the Company's expectations around safety.
  • Maintain liaison with outside organizations (e.g., fire & police departments, rescue teams, HAZ-MAT response, highway patrol, etc.) to promote open communications, prepare response plans and to ensure comprehensive support in case of emergency.
  • May work with other departments to identify and evaluate potential manufacturing problems, suggestions for waste reduction, or deviations in (EHS) policies and make recommendations for corrections.
  • May initiate Engineering Orders (E.O.) to change or modify existing documents or methods to correct problems or to accommodate changes in procedures.

 

 

 

 

Minimum Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Sciences, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three (5) years of experience in EHS, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, or a related field within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Basic knowledge of industrial hygiene principles, including exposure assessments, air sampling, noise monitoring, respiratory protection, ergonomics, and occupational health programs.
  • Experience supporting or conducting industrial hygiene surveys, workplace risk assessments, and exposure control initiatives.
  • Experience leading or participating in incident and accident investigations, including root cause analysis and development of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Experience supporting emergency preparedness and response programs, including emergency drills, incident response, and coordination with internal and external emergency response teams.
  • Experience developing and delivering EHS training programs related to safety, industrial hygiene, emergency response, regulatory compliance, and environmental, health, and safety requirements.
  • Working knowledge of applicable OSHA regulations and recognized occupational health and safety standards and best practices.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, presentation, and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage employees at all organizational levels.
  • Fully bilingual in Spanish and English, with strong verbal and written communication skills

The anticipated compensation listed above and the value of core and optional employee benefits offered by Boston Scientific (BSC) – see www.bscbenefitsconnect.com—will vary based on actual location of the position and other pertinent factors considered in determining actual compensation for the role. Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

 

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).

 

Compensation for exempt, non-sales roles may also include variable compensation, i.e., annual bonus target and long-term incentives (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
