Employee Communications - P3 (Communications Specialist)

Purpose

Responsible for the planning, development and execution of all aspects of multi-site communications, including internal employee communications, communications support, corporate public relations, media relations, special events and community relations activities.  The Communications Specialist will support the planning, development and execution of all aspects of site communications (internal and/or external) in alignment with corporate strategies, to further strengthen the Boston Scientific brand. This individual will develop and implement the site’s communications strategy aligned with overarching business objectives across existing and new social media platforms and be responsible for content creation and community management of key channels.  This role will also lead/coordinate or support special events, as well as community relations activities or local social responsibility programs, as appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and plan creative strategies for internal communications by understanding the primary needs of employees, the media, and the community.
  • Plan overall corporate communication strategy by consulting with management to ensure that communication executed by the company is aligned with the company's vision, mission and corporate strategy.
  • Plan the direction of internal publications and videos by setting overall goals, philosophies and editorial guidelines to ensure excellence in employee communication.
  • Act as corporate communications liaison by serving on multiple teams throughout organization to support the activities of the team and ensure the consistency and effectiveness of communication from the team to their intended audiences
  • Research, write and edit company news, as well as information for different platforms, such as web content, fact sheets, newsletters, social media content, and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Create/develop fresh story ideas and/or media content for internal employee communications and/or promotional materials, both electronically and in print, to strengthen employee engagement and reinforce BSC’s brand positioning. 
  • Work closely with management to support staff management by writing speeches or presentations, offering guidance and planning strategies to implement responses to issues that affect the company, its employees and its standing in the community and industry.  Copyedit / proofread and/or translate communications, as required.
  • Regularly audit the social media environment, by developing and monitoring metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of those channels.
  • Coordinate strategic and employee appreciation events, including support to ERG events and/or other engagement activities. Maintain site’s event calendar

 

Management Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in communications, public relations, or a related role, with experience in a similar industry or organizational context.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing communication strategies and plans.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills (both English and Spanish) with demonstrated ability to write and edit high-quality content for various audiences and platforms.
  • Expertise in content creation and storytelling, including multimedia production such as photography, video or graphic design
  • Proficiency in using communication tools and platforms, such as social media, email, power point presentations and content management systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically.
  • High level of creativity and innovation in communication approaches.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with different teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze communication metrics and adapt strategies accordingly.
