Manager II, Software Engineering (Industrial Automation)

 

Purpose Statement

This position is responsible for directing the activities of a software systems development function.  The software engineering manager oversees the design, development, troubleshooting and debugging of software for medical devices.  This position also has responsibility for directing the activities of the software validation and verification.  Develops quality standards for company products, oversees development and execution of software test plans and analysis of test reports.

  • Builds strategic partnerships to further departmental and organizational objectives.
  • Develops and executes organizational and operational policies that affect one or more groups by utilizing technical/professional knowledge and skills.
  • Monitors compliance with company policies and procedures (e.g. compliance with FDA, BSI, EEO regulations, etc.).
  • Makes decisions regarding work processes or operational plans and schedules in order to achieve department objectives.
  • May be responsible for developing, monitoring and appropriately adjusting the annual budget for department(s).

 

 Management Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering plus 7+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Previous supervisory experience with exempt direct report is a must
  • Experience in regulated environment required through the entire Product Life Cycle
  • Experience managing complex cross-functional interactions allocating resources
  • Preferred knowledge in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and Problem Solving/Process Improvement Methodologies, Validations and Change Management, Equipment Controls and PFMEA
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Fully Bilingual Spanish and English is required

  Funcional Expertise

  • Knowledge in systems integration and equipment development
  • Knowledge on the following technologies/areas:
    • Ethernet Networks
    • Equipment integration and controls (PLC, Sensors, Drives, HMI, etc.)
    • Vision systems
    • Conceptual Knowledge on Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence
    • Data Visualization
    • Database systems
    • Industrial Robots
    • Cloud solutions
    • PLC integration
    • Manufacturing Execution System (MES) basic knowledge (CamStar preferable)
    • Enterprise Resource Planning basic Knowledge (SAP preferable)
    • Overall IT/OT Knowledge
  • Strategic Mindset required to influence Local and Global teams

The anticipated compensation listed above and the value of core and optional employee benefits offered by Boston Scientific (BSC) – see www.bscbenefitsconnect.com--will vary based on actual location of the position and other pertinent factors considered in determining actual compensation for the role. Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

 

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).

 

Compensation for exempt, non-sales roles may also include variable compensation, i.e., annual bonus target and long-term incentives (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
