About the role:

As Boston Scientific Finance organization is evolving through different global programs, we want to upscale our competencies and create/develop the data science capability. This role is therefore a creation, and a great opportunity to join our fast-paced Finance function and support the fast-growing Boston Scientific business in EMEA.

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Finance Data Science Manager who will play a critical role in delivering high-impact, data-driven insights to support strategic decision across the finance organization, fostering a collaborative environment that promotes learning and innovation.

Longer term we will assess the possibility to hire more resources to expand on scope and impact, managing, mentoring, and guiding a team of data scientists and analysts.

The ideal candidate possesses a strong foundation in finance and data science, with a proven track record of using advanced analytics to solve complex financial challenges. This role requires a hands-on leader who can drive end-to-end analytics projects, from data extraction and modelling to interpretation and presentation.

 

In this role you will be responsible to:

  • Lead and Develop Data Science Team: Manage, mentor, and guide a team of data scientists and analysts, fostering a collaborative environment that promotes learning and innovation.

  • Strategic Analytics and Insights: Partner with finance, accounting, and business stakeholders to understand analytical needs and identify areas where data science can drive value. Translate business requirements into analytical solutions.

  • Modelling and Forecasting: Develop and implement advanced financial models, including forecasting, risk analysis, profitability modelling, and trend analysis, to optimize financial strategies and support decision-making.

  • Data Infrastructure and Pipelines: Oversee the data collection, ETL processes, and infrastructure necessary to support robust financial analytics. Collaborate with data engineering teams to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and availability.

  • Advanced Data Analytics: Apply machine learning, predictive modelling, and statistical techniques to financial datasets to uncover trends, anomalies, and insights that can drive business performance and efficiency.

  • Performance Reporting and Visualization: Create and automate financial dashboards, visualizations, and reports to monitor key financial metrics and KPIs, providing real-time insights to finance and executive teams.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with teams across the company, including Product, Marketing, Sales, and IT, to leverage data for holistic decision-making that aligns with broader business objectives.

  • Compliance and Data Governance: Ensure that all analytics and data management practices comply with relevant financial and regulatory standards, including GDPR, SOX, and other data privacy and security protocols.

  • Communication & influence: Use excellent written, verbal communication and digital media skills for coordinating across teams and engaging and influencing stakeholders

 

What are we looking for in you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field. A Master’s degree or MBA is preferred.

  • 5+ years of experience in data science or analytics, with a focus on finance or financial services; at least 2 years in a leadership or management role.

  • Professional with complete understanding and wide application of principle, theories, and concepts in the field.  Applies a full understanding of the area of specialization to resolve a wide range of issues in creative ways. 

  • Proven track record of delivering end-to-end data science solutions, from data collection and preparation to model development and deployment.

  • Ability to distil and communicate complex concepts, display information visually and make the patterns and insights revealed in data clear and compelling

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex analyses into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.

  • Highly skilled at rapidly building effective relationships with all levels of the organization

  • Experience working with and creating data architectures

  • Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, R, or similar programming languages used in data science and financial modelling.

  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) is a plus.

  • Fluency in English essential. Other European language’s ability advantageous.

Working schedule: hybrid (3 days per week in the office + 2 days per week working from home).
