About the role:
We are seeking a multidisciplinary Engineering Leader to equipment maintenance within the medical device manufacturing environment. This role is crucial in ensuring high-performance operations by developing and optimizing inspection/testing systems for new and existing products while also coordinating the maintenance team to guarantee equipment reliability and compliance.
This position requires strong technical leadership, hands-on engineering skills, and the ability to supervise teams of engineers and technicians, manage cross-functional projects, and interface with various stakeholders across product lifecycle stages, from development to sustaining and regulatory support.
Key Responsibilities:
· Coordinate and ensure timely execution of preventive and corrective maintenance for production equipment.
· Monitor and report maintenance KPIs (downtime, root cause, spare usage, inventory).
· Oversee and support the technician team, providing training, resources, and leadership while fostering an environment of respect, accountability, and continuous improvement.
· Guarantee compliance with regulatory and safety procedures, including documentation, EHS policies, and audit readiness.
· Collaborate with Process Engineers to resolve equipment-related quality complaints and MRB issues.
· Participate in equipment transfers and shutdown maintenance planning in the assigned area.
· Support initiatives for waste reduction, tool/equipment care, and world-class manufacturing practices.
· Lead the design, documentation, and execution of inspection and testing processes for new and released medical device products.
· Develop experimental plans, test methods, and data-driven conclusions to ensure product conformance with BSC Quality Systems.
· Support automation initiatives for complex manufacturing processes and inspection points across the production line.
· Act as a subject matter expert (SME) in inspection systems, including design feasibility, integration, validation, and process improvements.
· Mentor and supervise engineers, technicians, and assemblers in product testing, troubleshooting, and technical training.
· Interface with global teams, vendors, and cross-site specialists to resolve process and equipment issues effectively.
Qualifications and Requirements:
· Bachelor’s or Licenciatura degree in Electromechanical, Mechatronics, Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
· Minimum of 2 years’ experience in roles involving inspection/test development or production equipment maintenance, preferably within the medical device industry.
· Knowledge of automation systems, CAD/mechanical design, software/computer engineering, pneumatics, hydraulics, PLCs, and equipment troubleshooting.
· Language: English proficiency ≥70%.
· Proficiency in design control documentation, regulatory compliance, and root cause analysis.

· Strong leadership and organizational skills; results-oriented and technically driven.
· Effective communicator (verbal and written) in both Spanish and English.
· Quality-focused, highly motivated, analytical, and detail-oriented.
· Experience mentoring or managing teams, with a collaborative and supportive leadership style.
· Comfortable managing competing priorities across development, operations, and maintenance.
