About the role:
Plans, schedules, and routes inbound and outbound domestic and international shipments of freight, using knowledge of postal regulations, tariffs, and company policy. Coordinates with carriers, audits freight bills, prepares and negotiates claims, and selects or recommends carriers to ensure efficient, timely, and least expensive movements of goods and material. Maintains compliance with federal and foreign regulations governing the shipment, receipt and documentation of imported/exported products. Conducts research on transportation methods, rates and routes. Develops programs to audit and monitor carrier rates and charges and evaluates past performance and cost of shipping routes.
Your Responsibilities Include:
- Assists in negotiating, awarding, administering and reviewing service agreements with carriers, customs brokers and transportation suppliers with management input.
- Monitors the carriers' on-time performance and quality of shipments by reviewing and validating the carrier performance reports. Works with the carriers to improve performance when the agreed upon timeliness and/or quality drops below established service
- Conducts analysis of alternate methods of transportation and programs, along with projected cost and service improvements.
- Assists in developing long-term logistics strategies. Responsible for analyzing current logistical capabilities and recommending future logistical strategies based on future needs.
- Provides traffic advice and assistance and consults to ensure efficiency of time and costs (i.e., recommending and selecting carriers, exporting and importing).
- Negotiates with transportation, freight audit vendors and brokers to obtain the best service and price for contract and individual shipments when necessary.
- Audits freight vendor by conducting periodic reviews of vendors' service in order to ensure quality service and to resolve any problems (e.g., hub visit, delivery, packaging).
- Performs analysis, identifies root cause, and recommends corrective action utilizing transportation carrier and related information.
- Expedites difficult shipping situations (e.g., dangerous goods, new product introductions, customs clearance, etc.) to ensure timely delivery. Works with carriers, freight forwarders, and regulatory agencies to identify and resolve shipping issues.
- Collects data from carriers' service history to analyze and identify efficiencies and inefficiencies to develop cost-reduction plans.
- Collects shipping data from the computer systems and log sheets to compile the monthly Freight Cost Analysis report for management's review.
- Manages the freight bill payment and audit process with the vendor through contract negotiations and other means.
- Ensures the shipping team monitors and inform about the status of the cargo as needed to maintain a high level of customer service.
- Provides training and direction as needed to the Shipping team members in the preparation of domestic and exports and imports, freight claims, freight bill payment and audit process and carrier pick up.
What we're looking for:
Academic degree:
University degree in Customs, Foreign Trade, Business Administration or Industrial Engineering.

Bilingual (Spanish/English)
Advanced level in the use of the SAP system and data analysis tools (Tableau or Power BI)
Previous experience in coordinating work teams
Advanced Excel
Excellent communication skills
Experience in medical manufacturing environment
