Senior Digital Application Development Engineer, APAC IT Digital Tech

Purpose Statement

Boston Scientific is accelerating the digital transformation of its commercial digital ecosystem. Our distributors, sales teams, and commercial operations rely on modern digital platforms to manage pricing, quotations, rebate programs, contracts, and operational workflows. We are seeking a Senior Digital Application Development Engineer to design, build, and operate scalable internal digital platforms that support these commercial operations.

This role bridges mobile application engineering, backend services, and site reliability engineering (SRE) to ensure that critical commercial applications remain reliable, secure, and scalable. You will help deliver and operate platforms used by distributors, internal commercial teams, and business operations, enabling efficient pricing management, quotation workflows, contract execution, and commercial analytics. Your work will directly support Boston Scientific’s strategy to build a unified digital platform for commercial operations and distributor engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Mobile Application Engineering

Design and develop enterprise mobile applications that support commercial operations and distributor engagement.

• Develop cross-platform applications using React Native (TypeScript)
• Build native capabilities using:
• Android (Kotlin / Java)
• iOS (Swift / Objective-C)
• Implement scalable application architecture using:
• Redux Toolkit
• Redux-Saga
• React Query
• Integrate mobile applications with enterprise systems and APIs
• Develop mobile features supporting distributor and sales workflows
• Integrate mobile capabilities such as BLE or camera where operational workflows require them
• Manage application deployment through Apple App Store and Google Play enterprise releases

2. Backend Engineering

Build and maintain backend services that power commercial digital platforms.

• Develop APIs using NodeJS and NestJS
• Implement RESTful and GraphQL services
• Design data models aligned with pricing, quotation, and contract workflows
• Integrate with enterprise platforms such as:
• Kafka messaging systems
• ElasticSearch
• Document management and OCR services
• Ensure backend services meet performance, scalability, and security requirements

3. Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) & DevOps

Ensure critical commercial systems remain reliable and observable in production.

• Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines
• Implement monitoring and observability solutions using:
• Datadog
• Sentry
• Define and monitor Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and Objectives (SLOs)
• Investigate production incidents and perform root cause analysis
• Improve system resilience and availability
• Automate build, test, and deployment pipelines
• Optimize system performance for enterprise-scale workloads

4. Architecture & Engineering Leadership

• Design scalable architecture for commercial digital platforms
• Lead technical design discussions and implementation planning
• Conduct code reviews and maintain engineering standards
• Promote best practices such as:
• Test-driven development
• CI/CD automation
• Maintainable architecture
• Mentor junior engineers and support engineering capability growth

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
• 5–7 years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong experience building mobile applications and enterprise systems
• Expertise in JavaScript / TypeScript
• Experience with React Native development
• Experience integrating mobile apps with backend APIs
• Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and production monitoring
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills in production environments
• Experience working in Agile development teams

Preferred Qualifications (Good-to-Have)

• Experience building enterprise commercial platforms
• Familiarity with pricing, quotation, contract, or rebate systems
• Experience with Kafka or event-driven architecture
• Experience with ElasticSearch or distributed search systems
• Familiarity with cloud-native architectures
• Experience building enterprise mobile productivity applications
