About This Role:

The Reimbursement Specialist will work accounts receivable of insurance claims that are denied or underpaid.  The position requires extensive phone contact with insurance companies and initiating appeals or reconsiderations.  The reimbursement Specialist will identify payment obstacles and formulate possible solutions to achieve the maximum reimbursement.

 

Your Responsibilities will Include:

  • Follow-up of aging Accounts Receivable insurance claims.
  • Process claims that are denied through appeal or reprocessing procedures.
  • Understand and apply appropriate adjustment types.
  • Analyze underpayments and manage the appeals process.
  • Interpret Explanation of Benefits including allowed amounts, discounts, in/out-of network benefit levels, deductibles, coinsurances, and copays.
  • Process paper and electronic claims.
  • Apply ICD9 and CPT code knowledge when reviewing accounts for collections.
  • Apply Preventice Special Instructions for processing claims for carriers and practices.
  • Assist with patient insurance verification process as needed.
  • Apply patient payments to accounts, as needed.
  • Answer calls regarding insurance claims and benefits.
  • Maintain or exceed the daily goal for accounts worked.
  • Assist with mentoring and training new collectors, if the skill level is appropriate.

 

What We’re Looking For In You:
Minimum Qualifications

  • 2 Years with high school degree/equivalent, or
  • An equivalent combination of education/work experience
  • Sitting for extended periods of time will be required
  • Use of hands repetitively to type, handle and operate standard office equipment will be required
  • Employee will work under typical office conditions
  • All employees must pass a drug test, and must have valid proof of eligibility to work in the USA.

 

Preferred Qualifications

3+ Years Prior Medical Collections Experience.
Knowledge of claims processing and adjustments
Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and Commercial carriers
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Ability to calculate insurance benefits and write appeal letters (using templates)
Ability to read and understand Explanation of Benefits.
Knowledge of Out of Network (Non-participating provider) Collections
Insurance verification
Certification in assigned area preferred
Knowledge of Centricity
Basic Benefit Coordination
Knowledge of Medicaid or Medicare Claim Processing regulations
