About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as the in-house R&D Engineer III on our computer-based electromagnetic (EM) simulation pipeline. In this role, you will apply advanced modeling and analytical techniques to support the development of cutting-edge neuromodulation therapies, high-frequency communication systems, wireless charging solutions, and other EM-related applications.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Utilize and enhance our in-house computer-based modeling pipeline to study electrical stimulation, neural responses, and other EM interactions.
- Perform detailed analyses of high-frequency EM interactions in biophysical environments, including specific absorption rate (SAR), bioheat modeling, and related biophysical responses.
- Independently execute research studies, validate simulation outcomes against benchmark and experimental data, documented properly, and present findings to internal teams and external collaborators.
- Maintain technical acumen and stay up to date with developments in neuromodulation, computational modeling, and data analytics.
- Contribute to the development and protection of intellectual property.
- Design, develop, and maintain customized equipment and experimental setups to support bench-level and preclinical validation of new concepts.
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or Computer Science.
- 3+ years’ of progressive technical engineering experience (2+ if holding a Master’s Degree) with a combination of:

- 1+ year of hands-on experience developing Class III active implantable medical devices
- 2+ years of experience in Python programming, with strong knowledge of best coding practices; hands-on experience using NEURON, finite element modeling software, and the VS Code development environment.
- Strong foundation in classical electromagnetic theory and Maxwell’s equations, with applied experience in coursework, research, or engineering projects.
- Experience in algorithm development and optimization.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master’s or PhD in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or Computer Science.
- Hands-on experience with neuromodulation devices and a strong understanding of the complexity of neuromodulation systems.
- Experience working with large-scale data and applying advanced data analysis techniques.
- Familiarity with statistical and stochastic methods, including Bayesian approaches.
- Experience working in a laboratory environment, including proficiency with common lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, microscopes, and others.
- Demonstrated ability to challenge the status quo, think creatively, and explore innovative solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
