As the Distribution Director, you will provide strategic direction and leadership towards the Kerkrade global (tier 1) Distribution Center as well the European tier 2 and 3PLs distribution activities. As the leader you will be responsible for the overall performance and improvement of our core distribution activities, including warehousing, value added services, rework, and engineering. You will also lead the Facilities and EH&S for the entire Kerkrade site. 
You will be driving the organization through embedding a continues improvement culture to reach the lowest possible cost per unit, exceeding customer expectations, exploring sales growth opportunities and continuing high levels of employee engagement and motivation. 

 

Over the next years, you will be instrumental in leading the Kerkrade Distribution capacity project which will be double our on-site warehouse capacity to accommodate our future growth

 

Your responsibilities include:

  • Developing strategies and tactics, followed by strong execution for the overall distribution activities within Europe to ensure all orders are released and delivered timely (according to internal or external customer requirements) to customers error-free and well packaged, meeting the overall cost per unit goals, following the Global Supply Chain Operational Excellence strategies.
  • Develop an organization structure which balances between a fast decision process, control on all actions and span of control. 
  • Establish a strong culture of continuous improvement, following the Lean and Business Essentials methodologies. 
  • Define strategies to allow future flexibility in managing growth, activity expansion and increased complexity. 
  • Ensuring full compliance and regulatory SOP’s to the company quality system and constantly further develop the organization to ensure future requirements are pro-actively met.
  • Be an active partner of the global Distribution network. Contribute to the global development of the Distribution strategies, like Ideal Product Flow, to leverage our global infrastructure and economies of scale to continue to optimize our value across Boston Scientific’s end-to-end supply chain.

What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Advanced or Master Degree preferred, preferably with a Supply Chain specialization
  • Relevant functional and leadership experience within the areas of Supply Chain and/or Distribution on a broad international scale
  • At least 10 years of managerial experience in leading large and diverse teams
  • Demonstrated capability in collaborating and partnering within a complex global distribution and manufacturing environment
  • Proven track record in building a continuous improvement culture based on Business Excellence principles and methodologies
  • Demonstrated high degree of integrity, professionalism and ability to establish credibility 
  • High sense of urgency and commitment to execution
  • Fluent in English language and preferably Dutch
