ABOUT THE ROLE
As Communications Lead - Growth Markets, this role exists to give voice to our company mission, values and people across our growth markets (GrM) in Asia Pacific. It does this by enhancing and protecting the Boston Scientific reputation, brand and culture through strategic, integrated internal and external communications that deliver on business imperatives and inspire and engage stakeholders. This role represents the global corporate communications function in GrM, applying all relevant global policies and procedures to ensure that Boston Scientific speaks with “one voice” across the globe whilst appreciating local needs. Part of a global function, the role is a sole operator in GrM.
This role is based in Kuala Lumpar and will report to the Senior Director, Communications APAC.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Internal Communications
- Partner with HR and senior leaders to deliver impactful internal communications that support employee engagement in GrM.
- Develop and execute tactical internal communication plans aligned to the broader global, regional and country communications strategy.
- Deliver GrM-wide leadership messaging, employee events, initiatives and internal recognition programs.
- Define KPIs and measure effectiveness.
External Communications
- Work closely with Legal, Compliance, Regulatory, Government Affairs, IT and global/regional teams to build awareness and reputation across GrM.
- Develop and execute external communications plans aligned to corporate and business strategy.
- Lead media relations, social and digital communications, industry awards and reputation-building initiatives.
- Track performance against defined KPIs.
Leadership Communications
- Advise and support the GrM business leaders and other senior leaders on all aspects of reputation-building communications.
- Develop associated communications assets.
- Identify and manage media opportunities and provide media training as needed.
Risk & Reputation Management
- Partner with local and global stakeholders to manage communications-related risk and mitigate potential business impact.
Brand Governance
- Act as a brand ambassador, ensuring consistent application of global brand standards across ANZ including 3rd party usage.
Agency & Budget Management
- Manage external PR agencies and oversee budgets aligned to the communications strategy.

Interdisciplinary Storyteller
- Crafts compelling, audience-centric stories across internal and external channels, including media and emerging platforms.
- Adapts content to different audiences, channels and regulatory requirements for maximum impact.
Reputation & Brand Steward
- Protects and enhances the company’s reputation by ensuring consistent, values-driven brand representation.
- Uses insights and analytics to shape communication strategies, strengthen stakeholder perception, and continuously improve brand execution.
YOUR EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Previous Communications experience in a regulated environment, ideally with global exposure healthcare including medical device experience is highly regarded).
- Previous demonstrated success at stakeholder management and relationship building, including the ability to influence senior stakeholders globally.
- Experience working cross-functionally with partners (Legal & Compliance, Regulatory Affairs etc).
- Authenticity in communication and decision-making, fostering trust and transparency.
- A resourceful approach to problem-solving, leveraging available tools and networks effectively.
- The ability to work independently, managing tasks and priorities with minimal supervision.
- A proactive mindset, anticipating needs and taking initiative to drive outcomes.
