Project Manager, Accounting & Controls APAC

Purpose Statement:
The APAC Finance team is seeking a Project Manager to drive process harmonization, improvement, and optimization across APAC Accounting & GBS in preparation for the region’s SAP S4Hana implementation. This role is critical to delivering sustainable enhancements in financial processes, ensuring standardization while maintaining compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, and building capabilities to support future growth. The role may also involve managing initiatives to centralize activities into shared service centers or Centers of Excellence (COEs), working closely with the GBS process owner to harmonize and improve processes across the region.
As Project Manager, you will lead complex, end-to-end transformation initiatives across APAC Accounting & Controls and GBS. The ideal candidate will bring deep accounting expertise along with strong skills in project management, planning, stakeholder engagement, and change management. You will be accountable for managing initiatives from initiation through completion, guiding the organization through change, improving and optimizing processes, and delivering long-term business impact.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management

Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, timelines, stakeholder analysis, communication and resource requirements.

Lead the planning, execution, and closure of end-to-end programs, driving to meet timelines and overall program objectives.

Define training and performance support schedule and manage the design and delivery of training programs by project subject matter experts / process specialists.

Evaluate and ensure user readiness, track and report issues, define and measure success metrics and monitor change progress.

Identifying and mitigating potential risks, maintaining a risk and issues register and implement corrective actions as needed.

Monitor program progress through to stakeholder adoption, business handover and project closure.
Stakeholder Management

Define overall stakeholder engagement and communication plans, including the design, development, and key communication materials.

Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, providing regular updates on status, risks, and issues.

Foster effective communication and collaboration among project team members and stakeholders.

Engage stakeholders at all levels to create awareness, build commitment, ensuring clear communication and understanding of program goals and drive a positive attitude toward change.

Collaborate with country/function teams, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure effective change communication and training programs.

Cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external, to ensure alignment and support for project objectives.
Resource Management

Ensure that project team members, change champions and change ambassadors have the necessary tools, training, and support to perform their roles effectively.
Budget Management
-
Manage project budgets, ensuring that projects are delivered within financial constraints.

Track project expenses and report on budgetary status regularly.
Quality Assurance

Adhere to the BSC project management standards, using established methodologies and tools to define the business case, objectives, scope, roles & responsibilities.

Participate in regular reviews to ensure compliance with established standards.
Continuous Improvement

Identify opportunities for process improvement within the PMO and the broader organization.

Lead and contribute to VIPs in the PMO and the broader organization.
Reporting and Documentation
-
Prepare regular status reports for key stakeholders and Portfolio managers, providing insights into program performance and highlighting achievements, risks and challenges.

Maintain comprehensive documentation of program plans, processes, and outcomes.
Requirements
-
Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred.
-
CPA, CMA, MBA or equivalent preferred.

10+ years progressive end to end accounting experience; with deep experience across many different areas within accounting.

Technical skills: Business process improvement methodology (lean Six Sigma preferred). ERP experience (SAP S/4 preferred). Embodies a global mindset for the process.

Functional knowledge: Demonstrated application of accounting principles, local regulations (where required, and ability to ask the right questions) and financial analysis in the accounting processes. Significant knowledge & experience with US GAAP, IFRS, internal controls, and SOX 404 and how they impact the end-to-end process, financial statements, and financial statement assertions.

Problem-solving skills: Demonstrated superior problem-solving skills, ability to influence all levels at BSC, flexible communication and consulting / collaboration skills, along with dedicated team-building and interpersonal abilities. Outstanding ability to diagnose problems related to process, technology, strategy, or people. Experience in implementing successful issue resolution actions/measures and in articulating the problem and solution effectively to stakeholders.

Strong financial acumen: Proficient in developing business cases for process improvement initiatives. Ability to develop strong, compelling value propositions.

Project & Change Management skills: Proven ability to lead and execute large-scale, cross-functional projects with measurable outcomes. Experience in change management and organizational transformation, ensuring smooth adoption of new processes and systems.

Strong leadership, executive presence and influence skills: Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to motivate and impact teams (including teams that are not direct reports) working under tight timelines/budgets. Ability to influence executive level stakeholders. Possesses strong and effective communication skills and ability to exert influence through collaboration and respect, even without formal authority.

Global experience: Demonstrated self-awareness of communication styles and cultural differences.

Consultative style: Ability to formulate and articulate a perspective and present it in a way that fosters understanding and alignment on both strategic and tactical issues.

Language: Fluent in English; additional languages are an asset.

Travel: Occasional, limited travel to other BSC sites may be required.
