About this role: 

Boston Scientific develops, manufactures, and markets a broad array of products and services that enable less-invasive care for some of the most threatening cardiac conditions.  We’ve been expanding indications and conducting pivotal research for nearly 20 years, resulting in increased access to the lifesaving and life-enhancing benefits. In Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) we offer solutions for treating irregular heart rhythms and heart failure and protecting against sudden cardiac arrest and in Electrophysiology (EP), we offer technologies such as 3D Mapping and Navigation systems, Radiofrequency Ablation catheters, and Diagnostic Catheters. 


In this role, the director will define and lead the development of strategic plans to drive revenue growth in a geographic area for our Rhythm Management portfolio, including both CRM and EP; This role will provide input on sales objectives for existing and new products by forecasting and developing annual sales quotas for the area. Responsibilities will also include successful execution of the sales plan and strategic growth priorities as well as responsibility for the coaching and development of the respective management teams.


Responsibilities include: 

  • Participates in annual division sales forecast sessions and participates in the determination of market potential and sales expense estimates.
  • Identifies sales forecast gaps, submits corrective strategies and implements aggressive sales growth plans
  • Integrates regional sales plans into a broader area l sales plan and coaches managers accordingly.
  • Responsible for developing and  implementing customer segmentation strategy within the area.
  • Identifies and develops working relationships with the various clinical and economic decision makers within the area’s key accounts such a physician customers and hospital system administrators.
  • Provide direction and decision making on contract negotiations involving all products within the area in partnership with marketing, corporate accounts and other divisional stakeholders
  • Attend and participate in customer, company and industry sponsored forums and courses.
  • Provides direction and assistance to sales /marketing staff members in activities such as sales promotion, training or market research in planning, and executing special projects.
  • Plans and controls expenses to ensure sales objectives are met within budget.
  • Contribute to team effort by working with all members of the Company in all departments, as needed,
  • Provide feedback received in the field on both Company and competitor products to  key internal stakeholders and senior  leadership on a real-time basis.
  • Maintains knowledge of industry, market trends and the competition; continually seeking information from physicians, suppliers, insurance carriers and others to challenge, modify and prioritize sales division strategies.
  • Provide information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
  • Protect the Company's value by keeping appropriate information confidential, and by representing the Company with honor and integrity.
  • Spends a minimum of 50% time in the field with each Regional Manager to support their professional development needs and to maintain and develop strong relationships and understanding of local team members and external customers
  • Strong link with Product Management for New Product Commercialization Plans.
  • Recruiting/Staffing.
  • Maintain Pricing Discipline.
  • Negotiate with GPO's.


Management Requirements

  • Leads a group or team of employees in the achievement of organizational goals. Guide, coach, direct, and develop direct reports, and if applicable, drive those practices throughout their organization.

  • May direct and control the activities and budget of one or more functional areas, divisions, product groups, projects/programs and/or operations.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures (e.g. federal/country and regulatory requirements).


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive medical device sales experience; cardiology/cardiovascular emphasis preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of people leadership and sales management for medical device 
  • Must be willing to travel 60-70%


Preferred Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of Rhythm Management sales management experience 
  • Strong business, relationship and organizational management skills
  • Strategic thinker, analytical, accountable and results-driven
  • Demonstrated record of success or over-achievement in past sales positions
