Senior Clinical Specialist - Interventional Oncology

Purpose Statement

Boston Scientific is the leading provider of interventional Oncology treatments to Canadian hospitals, physicians, and their patients. The successful candidate for this position is responsible to promote and support company products in B.C. hospitals. This is achieved primarily through medical education focused on both current and potential customers. The individual will work closely with the local territory sales managers, as well as sales and marketing leadership, to assist in achieving projected sales goals and increasing sales revenues for important oncologic therapies such as TheraSphere Y-90 and Cryoablation. This individual will be looked to by customers and colleagues as a subject matter expert that provides invaluable on-site, day-to-day support for the quality and complexity of their Interventional Oncology programs. 

 

Key Responsibilities

• Educate customers on the merits and proper clinical usage of company products by giving presentations and demonstrations using appropriate formats and platforms (e.g. slides, manuals, documents) to keep all customers abreast of the latest product, therapy, and technology developments in the industry.

• Commercial Support: Under general direction, serve as primary resource for clinical support consisting of tackling a wide range of issues relating to situational troubleshooting, dosimetry determination, software support, and outcome tracking for the company’s products.

• Perform clinical and library research and participate in case reviews and clinical observation by working with physicians and hospital lab staff.

• Attend medical procedures in the interventional suites and operating rooms of hospital accounts and perform follow up to assure customer success with the technologies employed.

• Meet with existing and potential clients to identify their clinical needs, goals, and constraints related to patient care and to discuss and demonstrate how company products can help them to achieve their goals.

• Develop business relationships with hospital personnel (e.g., through casual conversation, meetings, participation in conferences) to make new contacts in other departments within hospital and to identify key decision makers to facilitate future sales.

• Respond to complex customer needs and complaints regarding products and service by developing creative and feasible solutions or working with other related personnel (e.g., sales, clinical, research, marketing, technical support) to develop optimal solutions.

• Providing initial and continuous training, education, and support for clinical center personnel on clinical trial protocol, clinical process, products and features under investigation, and procedures involving those products and features.

• Foster a strong day-to-day working relationship with sales and marketing colleagues to ensure the coordination of activities and objectives. Must be a solid team player who aspires to support a high functioning and transparent team working environment.

Minimum position requirements:

  • MRT Certification obtained through accredited Canadian or US based program
  • Currently holds professional provincial designation as a Medical Radiation Technologist
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in CT Imaging at a recognized Cancer Center
  • Strong experience with running ablation technologies and ablation procedures in CT an asset
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an Angiography Technologist experience an asset
  • Bachelor of Science degree preferred
  • Driver’s license in good standing
  • Ability to travel to support clinical cases across BC with regular overnight stays, and occasional travel to other parts of Canada
  • Ability to travel internationally if required to attend conferences, meetings.

The target annual total cash compensation for this role is $100-135K.
