About the role:
Boston Scientific is seeking an experienced and visionary Director, EMEA Data & AI to lead the strategic development and execution of data science, artificial intelligence, and analytics initiatives across the EMEA region. This newly created leadership role will report to the EMEA Commercial and Digital IT Leader and is ideal for candidates ready to expand their impact beyond traditional IT functions. The Director will drive technological advancement in the healthcare industry by leveraging data-driven solutions that improve business outcomes, operational efficiency, and customer experience.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

Data governance and strategy
• Lead the development and execution of data strategy and governance across the EMEA region
• Ensure continuous improvement of data quality for internal and external stakeholders, including GPOs and HCPs
• Establish and maintain frameworks for data governance, ethics, and compliance with HIPAA, GDPR, and other regulations
• Ensure all data is trustworthy, compliant, and AI-ready

 

AI, data science, and product leadership
• Oversee the development, deployment, and lifecycle management of AI/ML models
• Ensure alignment with business strategy and regulated IT infrastructure
• Provide technical leadership across data science, data engineering, and AI/ML functions

 

Strategic vision and alignment
• Collaborate with AI delivery teams to ensure alignment of regional business priorities with scalable, AI-driven solutions
• Define and consolidate long-term product strategies and roadmaps for the EMEA region
• Deliver a clear, actionable product vision aligned with company and market needs

 

Team leadership and culture
• Lead and develop a high-performing team of data scientists and engineers
• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence

 

Compliance and risk management
• Ensure all AI and data solutions comply with legal, regulatory, and privacy requirements
• Oversee privacy impact assessments and data-related incident response processes

 

Cross-functional collaboration
• Partner with Global IT, Privacy, Cybersecurity, Enterprise Architecture, and business stakeholders to implement and adopt data solutions
• Drive enterprise-wide adoption and change management of new solutions

 

Stakeholder engagement
• Act as a strategic partner across EMEA divisions and functions
• Manage stakeholder expectations, secure support and funding, and drive alignment for Data & AI initiatives
• Address escalations and ensure effective communication across complex environments

 

Performance and impact measurement
• Track KPIs and product metrics to measure the success and adoption of AI and data solutions
• Support ongoing change management efforts and solution improvements

 

What we are looking for:

Required qualifications:
• Minimum of 10 years' experience in data science, AI/ML, or related data engineering fields
• Proven leadership in managing cross-functional teams and large-scale data initiatives
• Strong business acumen and ability to develop ROI-driven AI business cases
• In-depth knowledge of AI, machine learning, and data engineering practices
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to engage non-technical stakeholders
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

 

Preferred qualifications:
• Prior experience in the healthcare, life sciences, or medical technology sectors
• Familiarity with privacy regulations including GDPR and HIPAA
• Experience working within global or matrixed organizations
