About the Role:

Magellan is a global business transformation program at Boston Scientific, focused on migrating our ERP system from ECC to S4 HANA. The program’s aim is to simplify, standardize, and modernize core business processes, allowing Boston Scientific to better leverage data for sustainable and profitable growth.

Reporting to the VP of Transformation, the Associate Director, Magellan Advance Team, will serve as the key leader and primary point of contact between the Magellan Program and the business for upcoming critical global deployments. This is a people leadership role, responsible for managing a team through complex, transformative initiatives. The initial focus will be on deployments within the US Commercial Divisions, Distribution Centers, Penang and Galway Manufacturing, and other critical functions. This role will drive the global Magellan program’s strategy and implementation roadmap, overseeing planning, communication, and coordination across regions to ensure alignment with both Magellan's objectives and regional needs.

The focus will be on closely partnering with the business to identify major initiatives ("big rocks") and key decision points. This includes leading early business mobilization efforts in areas like data cleansing, application remediation, current state process mapping, and process standardization. The Associate Director will also be responsible for engaging business stakeholders, mobilizing resources, and educating teams on the existing global templates.

  • Develop a deep understanding of the Magellan Program and its impact on all workstreams, including commercial, inbound logistics, manufacturing, outbound logistics, finance, change management, and master data.
  • Identify and engage stakeholders, establish networks and communities, and drive collaboration. Create a sense of purpose and clearly communicate the vision at all levels.
  • Partner with business leaders to define and enhance the SME/Superuser model for early mobilization. Secure the involvement of global process stewards/owners to guide key decisions on "big rock" initiatives, ensuring representation across regions and sites.
  • Lead site assessments, deep-dive sessions, and design workshops during the mobilization phase.
  • Manage the Magellan Advance Team’s budget and influence indirect budgets, ensuring proper resource allocation and budget adherence.
  • Track key performance metrics to gauge the success of the Advance Phase across deployments.
  • Continuously assess the performance of the Advance Team and identify opportunities for improvement and optimization.
  • Ensure clear accountability and ownership of deliverables, manage risks, solve problems, and facilitate timely decision-making or escalations.
  • Lead all project management activities, including scopes, charters, roadmaps, and work plans.
  • Collaborate with the business to identify critical decision points for key initiatives.
  • Oversee early business mobilization efforts in areas such as data cleansing, application remediation, process mapping, and standardization.
  • Educate business teams on the global templates currently in place.
  • Serve as a change leader by simplifying communication and storytelling, with a focus on effective change management.
  • Communicate priorities, monitor progress, and escalate unresolved issues.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, IT, engineering, science, or a related field.
