About the role:
We are seeking a motivated Data Scientist II to join our dynamic team within Process Development. As a Data Scientist II, you will work closely with senior data scientists and engineers to help leverage data analytics to drive insights, inform decision-making processes, derive actionable insights, and optimize performance within Boston Scientific. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to assist in the development and implementation of data analytics solutions that support our mission of delivering high-quality products and improving patient outcomes. The candidate must have a desire to learn quickly, communicate effectively, and solve technical/complex problems in a hands-on manner.

This is a hybrid position based in Maple Grove, MN with a minimum 3-day on-site requirement.

Key responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and objectives.
  • Assess manufacturing processes for automation and analytics opportunities.
  • Collect, clean, and preprocess large datasets from various sources, ensuring data quality and integrity.
  • Develop and implement statistical models, machine learning algorithms, and data mining techniques to analyze data.
  • Assist in designing and conducting experiments to test hypotheses and validate models.
  • Generate and visualize insights from data analysis, creating detailed reports and presentations for stakeholders.
  • Prepares and presents technical data and recommendations at technical reviews.
  • Continuously monitor and improve the performance of existing models and algorithms.
  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and healthcare technology.

Minimal qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience with BS in Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering or related field, OR 0 - 2 years with MS degree.
  • Excellent proficiency in Python programming language as well as other languages (e.g. R, Matlab, Julia, C++, Java, etc.) 
  • Solid experience with data analysis and visualization tools such as Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib, Plotly, Seaborn, or similar.
  • Excellent familiarity with machine learning frameworks and libraries such as PyTorch, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or similar.
  • Basic understanding of statistical modeling, machine learning algorithms, and predictive analytics techniques.
  • Basic understanding of database management systems.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Robust understanding of large language models (LLM) and frameworks including retrieval-augmented generation (RAG). (e.g. LangChain, LlaMA, GPT, Bard, etc.) 
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. 
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git.
