About the role:

The Director of Clinical Trials, New Technology Accelerator (NTA), is responsible for defining and executing global clinical strategies in support of the IO NTA, an innovation accelerator team focused on oncology new therapy development. This role will lead the NTA clinical team in developing and executing plans to study technologies through First In Human (FIH) research, with a focus on speed, learning, and creative thinking. The IO NTA Clinical Trials Director will serve as the link between clinical research and the scientific and engineering teams, innovating and adapting technologies and approaches to move forward quickly and identify breakthrough cancer therapies for our pipeline. This leadership position requires the highest level of expertise in strategic thinking, collaboration, talent and operations management, problem solving, and decision making.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Contributes to the development of global business strategy through participation in the New Technology Accelerator (NTA) Team
  • Facilitates strategic alignment within the organization and leads NTA clinical activities to achieve strategic and tactical business objectives
  • Collaborates across functions, business units, and geographies to achieve organizational objectives, capitalize on operational synergies to improve efficiency and compliance, and incorporate innovative and creative approaches to the generation of clinical evidence
  • Recruits, coaches and develops organizational talent to build and enhance the technical, strategic and leadership capabilities of the function
  • Directs the clinical team in the design, planning, execution and management of clinical studies and evidence-generating programs worldwide, within the approved budget and timeline and in accordance with company policies and procedures and the applicable regulatory requirements
  • Presents study progress, data, outcomes and risks to the NTA Board
  • Provides leadership guidance, direction and oversight to strategic Contract Resource Organization (CRO) partnerships
  • Monitors and ensures compliance with company policies, procedures and the applicable regulatory requirements
  • Directs and controls the activities and budget of one or more projects, programs and/or functional operations
  • Domestic and international travel

What we’re looking for in you:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 15+ years of oncology-related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Experience designing, planning and managing oncology clinical research studies
  • People leadership 
  • Project/trial management 
  • Financial acumen and budget management 
  • Experience with CROs, other clinical vendors, and outsourced operations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree
  • First in Human (FIH) or early feasibility and solid tumor experience
  • Ability to leverage knowledge and apply new ways of looking at problems, processes, or solutions to generate and champion new ideas, approaches, and initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to:
