About the role:

The Medical Director for the WATCHMAN franchise will be responsible for shaping and influencing the development of left atrial appendage closure as a therapy by rigorously and creatively applying scientific and medical expertise to ensure patient safety, guide strategy and drive innovation.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing medical and scientific guidance to internal and external customers including clinical project teams, other functional units, study investigators and regulatory agencies.
  • Providing support and oversight to clinical teams regarding clinical trial design and strategy, protocol development, interaction with FDA and other regulatory agencies, investigator selection, training of internal and external personnel, medical monitoring of patient safety and trial conduct, , analysis and interpretation of trial data, and development of trial presentations and publications.
  • Responsibility for providing the therapeutic area expertise to research and development, clinical, medical education, risk management and commercial teams throughout the device life cycle.
  • Contributing to the application and development of new technologies to solve complex medical problems, including providing medical input and clinical due diligence to new product development and business development teams for new products and potential acquisitions.
  • Writes/edits clinical and scientific reports and reviews and approves educational and reporting materials.  Also reviews and edits clinical trial protocols to insure accuracy, consistency with standard of care, logistical ease, and internal consistency with BSC Quality Policies.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with key thought leaders in the medical community.
  • Attends and participates in local, national, and international medical conferences.
  • Responsible for determining the escalation of safety issues for communication and action to senior leadership; interacts with senior management concerning significant safety matters.


What we’re looking for in you:

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD required with specialty training in Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology and/or Electrophysiology
  • 9+ year’s related experience or an equivalent combination of education/work experience
  • Ability to travel up to 30%

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of clinical trial design and biostatistics
  • Demonstrated results from leading, managing, and executing complex, cross-functional projects
  • Ability to influence at all levels of the organization, as well as ability to influence across functions and/or divisions
  • Excellent communication skills (articulate and persuasive) to scientific and non-scientific groups
