About the role:
The Medical Affairs Director will be responsible for creating, directing, and leading the development and execution of KOL engagement, physician education initiatives, as well as activities related to the investigator sponsored research program and the evidence generation strategies regarding the use of Boston Scientific (BSC) technologies and therapies.  As part of these responsibilities, the development of internal and external facing medical and clinical communications to support product education, data education, and therapy awareness for Health Care Providers (HCPs) as well as for internal stakeholders is a critical need.  
In this role, you will identify and engage HCPs and professional medical societies through collaborative partnerships to enhance educational initiatives, to advance the appropriate application of therapies that provide life enhancing outcomes, to expand the clinical data in support of our products and therapies, and to advise BSC on matters of strategic importance across the Interventional Cardiology (IC) division.
Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the team: recruiting talent into the team, providing direction to staff, evaluating employee performance, and providing regular feedback, coaching employees, and engaging in career development.
  • Developing and executing education strategies and activities supporting organizational objectives.
  • Gathering field intelligence, internal multidisciplinary stakeholder input, literature data to form the evidence generation strategy and the medical and clinical voice of BSC.
  • Managing the investigator sponsored research program of the respective franchise withing the Interventional Cardiology division. 
  • Identifying and developing relevant partnerships with the key opinion leaders and professional specialty societies through collaborative partnerships.
  • Monitoring and ensuring compliance with company policy with particular attention to HCP Global Compliance guidance.
  • Leveraging resources, expertise and knowledge across projects and programs.
  • Directing and controlling the activities and budget of the functional area.
  • Collaborating with key internal stakeholders to enable the overarching clinical/medical strategy, namely, R&D, HEMA, RA, marketing, and sales.  


Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree (Advanced degree) or above required and 10+ years of related experience
  • 5+ years of clinical and/or medical affairs experience
  • 3+ years of people/team management experience 
  • Knowledge and experience in interventional coronary therapies
  • Experience presenting and discussing clinical data with physicians 
  • Strategic skills and experience developing strategic project plans 


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctorate (MD and/or PhD) in a clinical or scientific field 
  • Proven ability to build credibility and rapport with physicians who are Key Opinion Leaders or clinical investigators 
  • Clinical, scientific, and statistical acumen, with an interest in and ability to understand and to communicate scientific data 
  • High sense of urgency and commitment to execution
